The movie Let's Rock had all sorts of cameos by early rock acts like Danny & the Juniors, Paul Anka, the Royal Teens, Della Reese and Roy Hamilton, but at its heart is a former balladeer (LaRosa) who has difficulty transitioning to Rock N Roll. It's done on the fly for the music, a single camera the actors are VERy aware of, no promises about production values but smack dab in the middle is an almost Rogers and Hammerstein dating song, pleasant and sweet, by the two main characters (Julius LaRosa and Phyllis Newman). I don't own the rights to the movie, and I couldn't find out who even wrote the song(!) but it stands on its own after a little edit of the front title. LaRosa sounds great and developed a swinging style with hits Mobile, Famous Last Words but had hits with this kind of ballad and Ms. Newman went on to a long carer, both in musicals (Wish You Were Here, The Apple Tree, Subways Are for Sleeping, Madwoman of Central Park West) and films. Here they are in the glow of the 50s and their youth in what is essentially a music video - song starts about :40. If you enjoy 50s Broadway musicals, you might enjoy this quiet gem.. + Informações
