In 1986 Memphian Anthony "Amp" Elmore defended his KICK World Heavyweight Title against Jeff Hollins from Austin, Texas. Before the big bout Grammy Award Winner Ms. Joyce Kennedy performed a Soulful rendition of the National Anthem. Not seem on Camera was Mr. Marvel Thomas the son of singer Rufus Thomas on the Key boards for Ms. Kennedy. Joyce kennedy is best Known for her song; " The last Time I made love duet with Soul Singer Jeffery Osborn. Anthony "Amp" Elmore Joyce Kennedy and Singer Jeffery Osborn were all a part of the Adolph Coors Celebrity Team. Coors sponsored Joyce Kennedy to come to Memphis to perform the National anthem for Elmore. Anthony "Amp" Elmore who was sponsored by Coors was the 1st African American in the history of Coors Beer to gain a personal service contract with Coors. Elmore was the 1st Kickboxer in America to gain sponsorship form the Adolph Coors Company. Elmore's Contract with Coors went from 1982 to 1987 however Elmore has always remained loyal and appreciative to the Adolph Coors organization. The Anthony "Amp" Elmore vs. Jeff Hollins bout in Memphis, Tennessee held at the Cook Convention Center was an exciting bout and more than a fight victory for Anthony "Amp" Elmore. In 1984 Elmore lost a controversial PKA or Professional Karate Association bout against Tony Palmore of Miami Florida. Less than 3 months after the controversial decision in Florida Elmore took on Super Ray Williams and won the Kick Super heavyweight World Title. In less than a year after the Florida bout Elmore took on the World's number one Contender Bill Morrison and Elmore won both the Kick Heavy and Super heavyweight titles. Anthony "Amp" Elmore made the point that "Titles do not make men, but it is men who make titles. Anthony "Amp" Elmore brought class, style and excitement to the Kick Heavyweight Title. More importantly Elmore expanded Karate Kickboxing beyond the tight hold of Kickboxing that was dominated by the PKA in that the PKA had the weekly PKA Karate shows. Elmore made the decision to not only promote Kickboxing but Elmore gained the ability to produce telecasts. The Elmore Hollins bout aired on Black Entertainment television and Elmore was able to bring to the Adolph Coors Company Coors Advertising on Black Entertainment Television. The Anheiser Bush Company had exclusive advertising contracts on both ESPN and BET Elmore was able get a few shows aired on BETBET President Robert Johnson explained to Elmore that they loved the Kickboxing but they had an exclusive with Anheiser .... + Informações
