I've always liked Johnny Darrell, and this track from his 1975 "Water Glass Full Of Whiskey" album is probably the best one on there. It's not that the rest of the album is bad, but a lot of the material is probably beneath his quality of singing. But still, it's worth a listen should you ever come across it.. + Informações

Thomascow`s version of Ruby , it is a 1960`s pop song composed by Mel Tillis and recorded in 1967 by Johnny Darrell, who had a top 10 country hit with it. Kenny Rogers and the First Edition covered it in 1969, it was a smash hit setting Kenny up with the big names making him world famous. Tillis was inspired by a couple who lived in Florida. The man was wounded in Germany in World War II and went to recover in England where he married his nurse at the hospital. They came to Florida, though he had ongoing trips to the hospital as his wounds required constant treatment. His wife was then finding comfort from another man during these periods. Tillis transformed the war to the more current Asian Korean War in the song, and transformed the closing lines as the man killed his wife in real life and then committed suicide.
