It's truly impossible to determine where rock 'n' roll was actually born, but Sun Studio in Memphis has as strong a claim as anywhere else. (Except, perhaps, Little Richard's loins.) Founded in 1950 by Sam Phillips, the studio?and its accompanying record label, Sun Records?was undeniably important in the history of the genre.Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis both graced Sun's tiny floors, but of course the most notable resident was Elvis Presley, who had a musical epiphany in the recording studio in 1953 with the song "That's All Right." In a way, Sun acted like indie labels did 20 years ago, nurturing young talent until bigger fish came along to snatch them away, as was the case with Elvis. After Presley moved on, Sun saw a serious dip in business, but his legacy eventually proved big enough to keep it afloat.U2 recorded a few songs at Sun for Rattle And Hum, and other artists have followed suit. According to our tour guide, Bob Dylan stopped by just to kiss the ground.These days, Sun offers tours during the day and still records bands at night. Inspired by the version we saw Glen Campbell play here on YTThis version guitar style was what I saw Glen briefly cover as he sat at home during an interview recently.I loved it and had to get to work on it straight away.Also from a concert in 1990 where i got to see his full version! (We two went to see him in Dublin that year).We will see him in Manchester Uk on 21st October where, among friends we hope meet him and get his autograph on that there guitar!!.. I just loved the way he played it , those chords in the intro with dropped D bass wow, which inspired my arrangement on guitar here. We never played this before but did several takes to agree on the end arrangement. It could do with some tweaking but this will have to cut it:-)). + Informações

I was lucky enough to meet Tommy before his gig in the Helix, Dublin. It was surreal seeing the guy you've watched 100's of times on youtube up close. He shook everyones hand, got in for photos then signed some guitars. I asked him about a Jerry Reed song called 'Struttin' and he just picked up my guitar and blasted into it. "City of New Orleans" is a folk song written by Steve Goodman (and first recorded for Goodman's self-titled 1971 album), describing a train ride from Chicago to New Orleans via the Illinois Central Railroad in bittersweet and nostalgic terms. Goodman got the idea while traveling on the eponymous train for a visit to his wife's family. He performed the song for Arlo Guthrie in the Quiet Knight, a bar in Chicago, and Guthrie agreed to add it to his repertoire. The song was a hit for Guthrie on his 1972 album Hobo's Lullaby, and is now more closely associated with him, although Goodman performed it until his death in 1984.
