Esta actuación corresponde al concierto de salsa celebrado en Madrid (España) el 2 de Mayo de 1991 (llamado tambien II Festival de Salsa Coronas). Lo grabé en España en una cinta de video en el año 1991 por lo tanto tiene casi 18 años y esta bastante deteriorada y su calidad es baja, pero pienso que es un documento interesante para poder compartir con las demas personas.Debido a la duración de la canción he tenido que subirla a Youtube en 2 PARTES(esta es la 2ª PARTE). En 1975, Pacheco publica el álbum EL MAESTRO, (Fania SLP-485), con la vocalización de Casanova y que contiene dos temas de gran importancia para la salsa: Guaguancó pa'l que sabe, composición de Felipe Yánez -para quien está dedicado el álbum- con un excelente solo de piano de Papo Lucca y Faisán, y un magistral solo de tres ejecutado por Charlie Rodríguez. El álbum, que incluye otros éxitos como Yo no parlevu France, composición de Pacheco; Simaní; Las Muchachas, del maestro Billo Frómeta; y Mango Mangüe de Francisco Fellove, recibe la primera nominación de Pacheco para el premio Grammy. Though born in the Dominican Republic in 1935, the multi-talented Johnny Pacheco admits that he hates the island's native merengue with a passion. In fact, it was the music he heard on Cuban radio by the likes of Arcaño y sus Maravillas, Arsenio Rodríguez and Chappottín, that he fixated on at an early age. And despite such passing fads like as boogaloo and salsa romántica, it has been hishis passion for typical Cuban music that hasis what defined the course of his musical career, which spanned spanning seven decades. He Pacheo was 11 years of age when his family relocated to the Bronx, New York, and not unexpectedly so it was no coinciden that, his initial gigs in New York were with merengue bands. He later spurned a career in engineering when he discovered that working as a musician could be more lucrative. Starting as a percussionist, he worked with such prestigious names as Tito Puente, Pérez Prado and Stan Kenton. Pacheco Johnny was both conguero and bongosero with the Latin jazz- oriented Charlie Palmieri Quartet in the late 19'50's when the impact of Cuban José Fajardo's flute and fiddles-led charanga band on New York's Latino community inspired Charlie Palmieri to launch his Charanga "La Duboney" with Johnny Pacheco on flute. After one album together, Johnny and CharliePacheco and Palmieri developed professional differences, and Johnny Pacheco split to lead his own charanga. Nacio en Santiago de los Caballeros, Republica Dominicana, el 25 de marzo de 1935 y heredó la pasion por la musica de su padre, Rafael Azarias Pacheco, quien fue director y clarinetista de una de las orquestas mas famasosa de ese tiempo, la Orquesta Santa Cecilia. El primer instrumento musical lo recibe de su padre a una temprana edad. Cuando tenía once años, la familia pacheco emigra a Nueva York donde johnny continúa puliendo sus habilidades musicales. Desde joven aprendió a tocar el acordeón, violín, saxofón y clarinete. Asistió a la prestigiosa escuela de música Julliard donde estudio percusión, lo que lo llevó a convertirse en el mejor percusionista del momento. Es uno de los más reconocidos intérpretes de Salsa de todos los tiempos y ha realizado grabaciones con los más destacados artistas de la época. Ingreso al Tumbao de Pacheco 1975- 1980 Como ya Johnny Pacheco no sólo tenía referencias de él sino que lo había visto actuar, se presentó la coyuntura que el boricua Pete El Conde Rodríguez- decidió marcharse del Tumbao de Pacheco y este sin pensarlo dos veces envió a Raymod Castro (integrante del Conjunto Clásico Los Rodríguez) a casa de Casanova con la colección de LPs para que él se aprendiera el repertorio. "Mira que Pacheco quiere que te aprendas los discos estos para que vayas a su orquesta... ¡Coño! Me le metí con alma y vida a esos discos. Un día me llamó y dijo: Oye Casanova es Pacheco... le respondí: ¡Ah! No creía y le dije: Pacheco. Él me respondió: Si... si Pacheco para que el miércoles vayas al Corso a ensayar. Yo ya tenía mis cositas listas y mi pelito arreglao... ja...ja...ja a la espera del llamado. Cuando llegué ese miércoles al Corso me vió el Manager y me dijo: ¿Y tú qué? Le respondí: Mira Pacheco me dijo que viniera para que hiciera parte de la orquesta. Y resulta que ese día él no apareció y no pude ensayar. Al día siguiente me fui pá Casa Blanca y allí estaba Pete- El Conde y cuando me vio llegar me dijo: Mira no te pongas furioso yo quiero que vengas para acá a la orquesta que estoy formando. ¡Vaya! él no sabía que ya yo estaba con Pacheco. Rafael Azarias Pacheco, his father, was the bandleader and clarinetist of one of the most famous orchestras of that time--the Santa Cecilia Orchestra. It was his father that first put a musical instrument into his son, Johnny's hands. At the age of 11, the Pacheco family moved to New York where he continued polishing his musical skills. He learned to play accordion, violin, saxophone and clarinet. He attended the Julliard School of Music where he studied percussion making him the leading percussionist of the time.
