1976 album Eargasm In late 1975, the always suave Johnnie Taylor signed to major-label Columbia after Stax went belly up. Working with longtime producer Don Davis, Taylor crafted a new, polished sound and got the jump on a burgeoning movement. Sounds like rocket science, but "Disco Lady" is simply Taylor getting all worked up over a gyrating woman on the dancefloor. It's the stuff enduring songs are made of. While this track does sound like pure Southern disco, it's not. "Disco Lady" was recorded at Detroit's United Sound Studio. Joining Taylor at this session were members of P-Funk, including bassist Bootsy Collins, keyboardist Bernie Worrell, and guitarist Glenn Goines. Telma Hopkins is one of the background vocalists here. This track has three arrangers, Davis, Worrell, and David Van DePitte. But the star of the show is Taylor. Taylor does a great, horn-dog performance: he's in perfect voice here and countless, great PG to R asides and a hilariously raspy "Hey sexy lady" seem to say it all. "Disco Lady" was an immediate hit and was the first single to be certified platinum. While the late '70s found Taylor getting closer to the kitsch side of disco, this was the classic.. + Informações

Good Love by Mr. Johnnie Taylor. "I re-uploaded the video with some better audio" The club portions of this video was taped at club 1001 in Jackson, Mississippi. It seems that Malaco came out of the dark ages when they released this song. Allegedly, Johnnie did not like this song at all when it was first presented to him at first by Rich Cason, writer and composer of the song. It turned out to be Johnnies biggest hit in 20 years. I first saw this video on BETs Midnight Love back in 1996, and it was being played on prime radio stations in Houston Texas where I resided at the time.
