Big Joe Egan - Former Irish Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Former Sparring Partner with Mike Tyson and The Toughest Whiteman on the Planet. 'Big' Joe Egan, as he is affectionately known, is Ireland's most colourful boxing heavyweight. He was first baptized in the ring when he fought the national junior champion Steve Collins, starting a fantastic career which would see him go the distance with Lennox Lewis. By the age of 24 he had recorded over 80 wins, 7 Irish titles and was also a Golden Glove Champion. The graduate of Trinity College Dublin fought 11 times wearing the green vest of Ireland, winning his fights with his durable chin and powerful body punches. His shining moment was when he beat the future WBA champions Bruce Seldon, enthralling those at the ringside including New York's Jake 'The Raging Bull' La Motta. However this was sadly not enough to secure him a place at the Olympic. Encouraged by Floyd Patterson to try his luck in the USA he joined Mike Tyson's training camp in the Catskill Mountain's with the great Cus D'Amato. Joe and Mike became firmest of friends, Mike describing Joe as "the toughest white man on the planet" Joe is heavily involved in acting and has recently appeared in the Hollywood Blockbuster Sherlock Holmes, Alongside Robert Downey Jnr & Jude Law - working alongside Guy Ritchie.
