Joan Baez - Banks Of The Ohio 3.10 min. This sound is low quality because it was extracted from the second LongPlay of Joan Baez (Volume 2), originality of 1961. I do my best but I didn't get to remove the noises. Sorry! The Argentinean version of that LP was release by Del Repertorio Vanguard in 1961 and received the subtitle "Old Blues". Apart from that, it is exactly equal to the American North version.. + Informações |

Joan Baez - And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda 6.03 min. | 4.9195404 avaliação | 429516 exibições (See Lyrics below.) A song about a young Australian soldier maimed during the Battle of Gallipoli (1915) during the First World War; written by Eric Bogle in 1972. The paintings of Degas, Sargent, and the visual arts of Spadecaller, augment the song's theme. LYRICS: Now when I was a young lad I carried me pack And I lived the free life of the rover. From the Murray's green banks, to the dusty outback While I waltzed my Matilda all over. Then in 1915, my country said, 'Son, It's time you stop ramblin', there's work to be done.' So they gave me a tin hat, and they gave me a gun, And they marched me away to the war. And the band played 'Waltzing Matilda,' As the ship pulled away from the quay, Amidst the songs and the cheers, the flag waving, and tears, We sailed off for Gallipoli. And how well I remember that terrible day, How our blood stained the sand we call Suvla Bay We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter. The big Turkish shell caught me arse over head, And when I woke up in my hospital bed And saw what it had done, well, I wished I was dead Never knew there was worse things than dying. So I'll go no more 'Waltzing Matilda,' or through the green bush bars and wide For to hunt and tent peg a man needs both legs, No more 'Waltzing Matilda' for me. They gathered the injured, the wounded, the maimed, And they shipped us all back to Australia. The armless, the legless, the blind, the insane, Those proud wounded heroes of Suvla. And as our ship sailed into Circular .... + Informações |

JOAN BAEZ ~ Donna Donna ~ 4.00 min. | 4.939954 avaliação | 813079 exibições Joan Baez ~ DONNA DONNA ~ Joan says: One of the most recent stories about this song is from May, 1989, when I was still in Czechoslovakia, while the Communist government was still well-entrenched. Humanitas International and I had invited some of the leading dissidents to my concert, incuding Vaclav Havel ( who later became the President of Czechlslovkia). Ot was a government-televised concert and police were all over the place. We had people sit with out dissident friends to keep them from being arrested. "I sang and then invited a banned Slovakian musician to the stage where we got the microphones turned off for the first time. When I introduced Havel, the audience went wild. To close the concert I asked the "legitimate singers who performed before me to sing the encore with me. They were very hesitant, but I was able to persuade them. I hit about two notes of "Donna Donna" when the sound was cut again. But without a microphone in a hall of about 4000 people we sang "Donna Donna." You could have heard a pin drop. Someone had taken the very serious personal risk of turning off the house music. Even the police were to embarrassed to interrupt and do their job. It was an important moment ------ a big victory. Recorded in concert for CBC Radio Montreal, Canada, 1969.. + Informações |

BACHIANAS BRASILEIRAS n°5 - Heitor VILLA-LOBOS - Joan Baez 6.32 min. Suave a luz da lua desperta agora, a .... + Informações |

Joan Baez - Farewell Angelina 3.22 min. | 4.966457 avaliação | 225254 exibições Farewell Angelina Farewell Angelina, the bells of the crown Are being stolen by bandits, I must follow the sound, The triangle tingles and the trumpets play slow, Farewell Angelina, the sky is on fire and I must go. Theres no need for anger, theres no need for blame, Theres nothing to prove, evrythings still the same. Just a table standing empty by the edge of the see Means farewell Angelina, the sky is trembling, and I must leave. The Jacks and the Queens have forsaked the courtyard 52 Gypsies now file past the guards In the space where the deuce and the ace once ran wild Farewell Angelina, the sky is folding, Ill see you in a while. See the crosseyed pirates sitting perched in the sun Shooting tin cans with a sawed-off shotgun And the neighbors they clap and they cheer with each blast Farewell Angelina, the sky is changing color, and I must leave fast. King Kong little elves on the roof tops they dance Valentine-type tangos while the make-up mans hands Shut the eyes of the dead not to embarass anyone Farewell Angelina, the sky is embarassed, and I must be gone. The machine guns are roaring, the puppets heave rocks The fiends nail time bombs to the hands of the clocks Call me any name you like, I will never deny it Farewell Angelina, the sky is erupting, I must go where its quiet.. + Informações |

E c'era il sole e avevi gli occhi belli The sun was shining and you had beautiful eyes lui ti baciò le labbra ed i capelli, he kissed your lips and hair, c'era la luna e avevi gli occhi stanchi the moon was shining and your eyes were tired lui pose le sue mani sui tuoi fianchi. he put his hands upon your waist. JOAN BAEZ ~ No Nos Moveran On ~ 3.70 min. | 4.965517 avaliação | 79208 exibições Joan Baez ~ NO NOS MOVERAN ON ~ Joan reads a poem by Pablo Neruda ("The Heights Of Macchu Picchu") Here is the English translation: Arise to birth with me my brother. Give me your hand out of the depths sown by your sorrows. You will not return from these stone fastnesses, You will not emerge from subterranean time. Your rasping voice will not come back, nor your pierced eyes rise from their sockets. Look at me from the depths of the earth, tiller of fields, weaver, reticent shepard, groom of totemic guanacos, mason high on your treacherous scaffolding, jeweler with crushed fingers, farmer anxious among his seedlings, potter wasted among his clays -- bring to the cup of this new life your acient burial sorrows. Show me your blood and your furrow; say to me: here I was scourged because a gem was dull or because the earth failed to give up in time it`s tithe of corn or stone. Point out to me the rock on which you stumbled, the wood they used to crucify your body. Strike the old flints to kindle ancient lamps, lightup the whips glued to your wounds throughout the centuries and light the axes gleeming with your blood. I come to speak for your dead mouths. Throughout the earth let dead lips congregate out of the depths spin this long night to me as if I rode at anchor here with you. And tell me everything, tell chain by chain, and link by link, and step by step; sharpen the knives you kept hidden away, thrust them into my breast, into my hands, like a torrent of sunbursts, an .... + Informações |
