After years of admiring each others musical masterworks and guitar greats JJ Cale and Eric Clapton have teamed up for the first time to create an original album together. It was produced and recorded by the duo in August 2005 in California. The resulting music defies being labeled into any one category, but instead finds influence across the spectrum of blues, rock, country and folk. A hybrid sound that is unique musically, while still bearing the signature styles of Cale and Clapton recognized by fans around the world. The songs are warm and rich, with deep flowing rhythms, yet use an economy of words to express much.. + Informações

So we got back to one of our favorite spots - STATUS PARK bar in Valongo PORTUGAL - last 22nd October 2010 to another terrific evening with lots of rock'n'roll:) This time we thought we should try out some 'new' songs rather than our regular setlist... It was very interesting to watch us improvise all along the way:) These set of recordings is made with songs that I hadn't posted before, because we didn't play them before together! This is a slow loop version of After Midnight. I've been playing this lately on my live gigs. I am recording my guitar with a Boss RC20Xl Loop Sampler while playing live. After laying down the rhythm track I overdubbed a bass part live using a Boss Super Octave OC-3. The bass pedal is a new addition to my pedal board. Near the end of the tune I erase the first loop and build a new loop while continuing to play. At the very end I overdub several guitar parts live. The looper is fun to play with.. + Informações

Welcome to this video where I show you how I play JJ Cale's After Midnight on guitar and harmonica. So, we're going to go through guitar chords, strumming pattern, talk about the harmonica and the key I'm using and then we'll jam it through. Ok, so starting with guitar chords, we start with A, then C, then D, and back to A. Ok, we also have E7. Those are all the chords in the song. So, for a strumming pattern, I'll give you a little example of how I strum it. Let me count that for you a little slower. ?1 (2) ?3 (4) ?& (1) ?& ?2 (3) ?& ?4 ?& ?1 (2) ?3 (4) ?1 (2) ?3 (4) That maybe a little tricky to get started. Another thing you can also do is to play roots. So sometimes I'll do this. www.georgegoodman.com So for the harmonica, I'm playing a D harmonica. So we're in the key of A but I'm playing a D harmonica. The reason for that, on a D harmonica, when you draw on the second, third, fourth and fifth notes you make an A7 chord and that's what we want. We're playing in the key of A but we want to have that dominant seventh to just give it that bluesy feel. It also bases it on a bend. That's not right. It's based upon drawing these notes and it's easier to bend on a draw so you can take that A7 chord and bend the heck out of it and have alot of fun. Again, a D harmonica with that draw on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th holes gives you an A7 chord. Ok, so .... + Informações

A trove of previously unreleased songs recorded by American music icon JJ Cale during his early, and arguably most influential, years will at long last be released. Featuring vintage tracks from Cale's legendary tenures at Shelter Records and Mercury Records, Rewind: Unreleased Recordings' will be in stores on October 2nd. On this clip Eric Clapton explains for what occasion he wrote the song "Golden Ring" and how excited he was that JJ Cale recorded it after Eric himself had been so successful with his renditions of Cale's "After Midnight" and "Cocaine." A good part of this until now unreleased song is played with on screen lyrics after which Cale states that it was not just a payback to Eric Clapton, because he (Cale) truly loves the song.. + Informações
