Hey movie buffs, Tatiana Carrier here with Clevver movies. JJ Abrams talked about the Star Trek sequel while promoting his new show Alcatraz at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, and just getting us pumped for this movie that is set to start filming in the next few days! . When Abrams was asked how he felt about all the buzz that came about with Benicio Del Torro being rumored to join the cast, he was actually just glad that people were talking about it. Even if Benicio wasn't going to make it into the movie. But most importantly, him not being in the film will not affect the story or characters in it at all. Personally, with this information, I think we can rule out any rumors of Kahn being the villain. Sorry guys. . But on the note of new cast members. Abrams did open up a good amount about Benedict Cumberbatch. As we reported last week, Cumberbatch is the newest actor to get signed on for this highly anticipated sequel. According to Entertainment weekly, Abrahms is officially on board to direct the sequel to his 2009 hit Star Trek! first film's screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are penning the screenplay with producer Damon Lindelof, and the main cast ? including Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are all set to return. The sequel is still untitled, and was originally scheduled to come out June 2012, but the film has moved off of that date to give the writers enough time to polish the script. Abrahms first reboot of Trek pulled in 257 million domestically and 385 million worldwide, so we are all pumped to see him back in the directors chair to make some trek magic!
