The serial number is #95278. This Hardman Conservatory Grand has a beautiful Satin Ebony finish and plays like a dream. It was originally made in 1935 and has been fully restored and rebuilt, combining an authentic, vintage quality from a previous era with a quality of sound and finish that would rival any modern grand. The Hardman piano company began in the mid 1800s in New York City, here they competed directly with Mason & Hamlin and Steinway. They are know for their purity, delicacy and artistic beauty of both the sound and their finish, and this is an exemplary example. The case has been fully refinished with hand-rubbed lacqeur and the soundboard fully restored. It features a new pinblock, new tuning pins and strings and the action has been rebuilt with new hammers, shanks, flanges, and keybushings. Additionally, the keytops are new and the action has been reconditioned and regulated to original factory specifications. There is also a DampChasser system installed to counteract the effects of humidity. What is most impressive about this piano is the superlative sound. It has a rich, luminous tone, that even glows at times. It plays well in all registers, but each has a distinctive sound.
