What's more, he also wrote many of the songs that he recorded -- a relative rarity among White singers of his day. Clanton was born in Baton Rouge, LA on September 2, 1940. It's from a CD-collection called "The Wonderful World of the 50's - 100 Hit". Songs with various Artists. I'm sorry if you don't like it, but no one's forcing you to listen. This is a great overlooked Jimmy Clanton 45 from 1963. Even with the chart hits stopping (for a few years, anyway), Jimmy kept putting out killer 45's such as this one. This was written by Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield and was produced by Al Kasha (who is one of those people who I end up buying every 45 i see his name appear on because you already know it will be a good one). Neil also cut his own version of the song but in my opinion it's not nearly as good as this one. In case you think Clanton stole this song from Jan and Dean, think again. Clanton recorded it in 1960 while Jan and Dean's didnt hit the presses until late 1962 or early 1963. However.it was written back in 1942 but not recorded until 1946 by Ray Noble and Buddy Clark.
