Louis Armstrong on "The Johnny Cash Show" - complete and uncut 9.70 min. | 4.9802957 avaliação | 29939 exibições From the October 28, 1970 episode of Cash's TV variety show, Armstrong sings "Crystal Chandeliers" and "Ramblin' Rose" with the band then duets with Cash on the Jimmy Rodgers classic "Blue Yodel #9." There are other, partial versions of this performance online, but this is the only complete one I've found. It's so cool to see Armstrong killing on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, when a decade earlier they wouldn't have let him in the servant's entrance.. + Informações |

JERRY LEE LEWIS & JOHNNY CASH - WAITING FOR A TRAIN 4.30 min.

JERRY LEE LEWIS & JOHNNY CASH - WAITING FOR A TRAIN 4.03 min. SLOOP JOHN B by JOHNNY CASH 2.08 min. | 4.8329716 avaliação | 320601 exibições Sloop John B by Johnny Cash, also known as "I Want To Go Home". 1959 Although "J. Cash" gets the songwriting credit for "I Want to Go Home," in fact it's his version of the homesick sailor folk tale more commonly known as "Sloop John B," recorded elsewhere by the Weavers, the Kingston Trio, the Beach Boys, and others. Sloop John B - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Sloop John B" is the seventh track on The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds album and was also a single which was released in 1966 on Capitol Records. It was originally a traditional West Indies folk song, possibly recorded earliest by The Weavers under the title "Wreck of the John B", the song taken from a collection by Carl Sandburg (1927). Alan Lomax made a field recording of the song in Nassau, 1935, under the title "Histe Up the John B. Sail". This recording appears on the album Bahamas 1935: Chanteys And Anthems From Andros And Cat Island.[1] The song was adapted by Weavers member Lee Hays. The recording of the song which directly influenced The Beach Boys was by The Kingston Trio. The John B. was an old sponger boat whose crew were in the habit of getting notoriously merry whenever they made port. It was wrecked and sunk at Governor's Harbour in Eleuthera, the Bahamas, in about 1900.[citation needed] The song has been recorded by many artists, including The Calypso Bandits, Joseph Spence, Tom Fogerty, Roger Whittaker, Johnny Cash, Jimmie Rodgers, Jerry Jeff Walker, Dick Dale, Catch 22, Me First and the Gimme .... + Informações |

Jimmie Rodgers - Years Ago (The last recording of Jimmie Rodgers) 2.40 min. | 4.9770775 avaliação | 163441 exibições May 1933, Rodgers, suffering from Tuberculosis, traveled to New York City for a group of sessions beginning May 17, 1933. He started these sessions recording alone and completed four songs on the first day. When he returned to the studio after a day's rest, he had to record sitting down and soon retreated to his hotel in hopes of regaining enough energy to finish the songs he had been rehearsing. The recording engineer hired two session musicians to help Rodgers when he came back to the studio a few days later. Together they recorded a few songs, including "Mississippi Delta Blues". For his last song of the session, however, Jimmie chose to perform alone, and as a matching bookend to his career, recorded "Years Ago" by himself. Jimmie Rodgers died two days later on May 26, 1933 from a lung hemorrhage. He was 35 years old.. + Informações |
