BALKANELGROUP THE MUSICAL TEAM BALKANEL WHOSE FOUNDER IS THE BALKANS INSTITUTE FOR THE HEBREW LANGUAGE STARTED THE PROJECT »THE SONG OF SONGS« - THE OLDEST SONGS OF THE WORLD The Balkans Institute for the Hebrew Language, by virtue of the idea and in the organization by the headmaster Zeljko Stanojevic, started one very interesting project jointly with certain number of volonteers and the Institute friends. Namely, the successful cooperation was realized with Michael Levy from England who is one of the most famous ancient music historian. He succeeded in decoding and playing the oldest cuneated records with notes from the Region of presentday Israel and other biblical countries. Using both those melodies/tunes, and a few old original Israeli songs, the texts from the Song of Songs and the Psalms were translated as well as the modern arrangements in order to be accessible to nowadays listeners. With that kind of music and text, the singers were chosen who would sing those interesting compositions. The Project is in the phase of recording in the studio Boom in Belgrade under the direction nad production of Mr Milos Stojanovic. The organizer and the translator of the Hebrew language is professor Zeljko Stanojevic. The poetic renditions were done by Zeljko Stanojevic, Ivana Stojanovic and Edvard Ahmeti Markovic. Izzy originally from Poland, is an amazing person who spent from age 18 to 24 in German concentration camps doing slave labor, including Auschwitz. Never having had more then a 7th grade education he was liberated in 1945 with nothing more then the clothes he was given, yet he stayed in Germany and became a millionaire there while still in his thirties. In 1964 he came to the US and continued doing business here. Now at 85 he is retired doing the snowbird thing and doing his favorite thing, cooking. Everybody who has tasted his food raves about it, and everyone who knows him thinks he is a real character.
