Ardella Williams is the daughter of the famed 1930s and1940s Chicago blues singer and harmonica player William "Jazz" Gillum (popularizer of the blues classic "Key To The Highway"). She began singing in the 1950s, and was a friend and fan of many of the blues artists active in Chicago at that time. Musician. Born in Indianola, Mississippi in 1904, he was a blues singer harmonica player known as "Jazz Gillum". In 1923, he went to Chicago, where he worked as a studio musician and played with Big Bill Broonzy. During the 1930s to 1940, he recorded more then 65 sides for Bluebird label to include "I'm That Man Down in the Mine", "Swingtime", "Me and My Buddy" and "I Want You By My Side". After serving in the US Army during World War II, he went right back to playing and recording for Bluebird. During the 1950s, he performed on the Chicago music scene on occasions with artist Muddy Waters and Memphis Slim before retiring from public appearances in 1963. On March 29, 1966, during an argument he was shot in the head and was pronounced dead on arrival at Garfield Park Hospital in Chicago.. + Informações

Jazz Gillum (b.Sept. 11, 1904 - d.March 29, 1966) blues harmonica player was born William McKinley Gillum in Indianola Mississippi. Ran away from home 1911. Moved to Chicago Illinois 1923, started playing gigs around town with Big Bill Broonzy. Started recording 1934. Recorded though the 1940s. He was shot dead during a street argument in 1966. This is the flip-side to 'Look On Yonder Wall" and was recorded in 1946.. + Informações
