This was not an 'official' gig by any means. Our host in Belgium had asked the band if they would do an afternoon show at one of his favorite haunts, and they were happy to oblige. It was a restaurant/bar with a beautiful garden. Patrons & waitstaff mill about. It was a gorgeous summer night, and a truly lovely setting for an incredibly memorable show. The Jazz Butcher Conspiracy has been my favorite band for over two decades. In that time, I have collected their albums on CD and Vinyl, seen the band perform live around 18 times...from a crazed student union in Madison 1989, to a quiet garden setting in Kortrijk, Belgium in 2002, to a crazed pub in LA in 2009. Over the years, I have also collected a number of posters and fliers promoting shows, albums & singles, which adorn my office. So for the few who might be interested in my little collection...but particularly those who will likely not find themselves poking around my office any time soon...I made this little video. But as I publish it, I feel a hint of trepidation. You see, some people throw the word "obsessive" around around quite casually, and occasionally in my direction. I'm not a fan of the word. The connotations are negative, and it implies a certain 'crazed' behavior. I suspect this slideshow will provide ammunition to those who would say I am obsessed. Oh well. Personally, I prefer to use words like 'enthusiast', 'completist', or as the Butcher himself once called me, 'the archivist'. With that, from the archives comes.... + Informações
