Ogni volta che sbircio un libro di storia del jazz ho la conferma puntuale che nell'immediato dopoguerra le città europee più aperte alla più illustre musica nera erano Parigi e... Stoccolma! Non mi resta che prendere il fatto per acquisito, con tutto quello che ne consegue, vale a dire non solo la formazione di un pubblico colto e attento, ma anche e soprattutto una ricca fioritura di validi epigoni dei più grandi jazzisti, la cui fama rimase confinata ai paesi d'origine, con qualche rara eccezione. Un fermento del genere, ancora attivo all'inizio degli anni '70, non poteva lasciare indifferente un musicista colto e positivamente curioso come Keith Jarrett, aperto alla conoscenza dei vari aspetti del jazz, ma anche ad ogni possibilità di contaminazione con altri generi di musica, compresa quella classica. Come fece a trovare anche il tempo per fare una capatina in Norvegia non è facile capirlo, ma in compenso si conosce nome e cognome del principale motivo che lo spinse a quelle latitudini: Jan Garbarek. All'epoca giovanissimo, il sassofonista norvegese aveva già impressionato il grande pianista, che non esitò un istante quando gli fu offerta l'occasione di fare un disco con il suo pupillo. A farlo fu il produttore Manfred Eicher, sinonimo di ECM, che a sua volta è sinonimo di musica di altissima qualità. Con l'apporto di due validi musicisti scandinavi, il contrabbassista Palle Danielsson e il batterista Jon Christensen, ecco creato un "quartetto nordico" per Keith .... + Informações
