IO Echo is Leopold Ross and Ioanna Gika. A sonic exploration into improvisational instrumental Avant-garde Electronica with catchy melodies, a sense of darkness, of the murky and mystical, and a rhythmical, almost tribal,intensity. In other words, a perfect match for the AllSaints Basement Sessions. They have opened for Florence and The Machine, The Big Pink and Hot Chip and are currently finishing their works for the debut album... keep 'em peeled for release date later this year. This totally unique 'Session was filmed and recorded in the creation chambers of the amazingly talented sculptor and friend of the Basement Sessions, Mr Marco Cochrane, in San Francisco, CA. All art, sculptures and fantastic objects you see scattered around this wonderful warehouse space are mustered from Marco's imagination. His skilful larger than life models are exhibited at major festivals and events around the Globe, including the world-famous, Burning Man Festival. This exclusive Basement Sessions set up and re-work makes for a more intimate performance, that differs to their live shows; adding another beautiful string to the bands bow and treating us all to something never before seen.. + Informações

IO Echo opened for The Big Pink 3/9/2010 at the El Rey in Los Angeles. They're playing "I'm On Fire" here. They're still (for now) best known for their song "Doorway" that was featured on a Sprint commercial. But I've seen them open for NIN and The Big Pink now and can tell you, they're pretty damn good live. Unfortunately, I caught two girls' conversation during the beginning of the song....
