My 9th custom knex coaster is a recreation of Invertigo, a Vekoma inverted boomerang. MUSIC: "judgement day" by immediate music. www.sscoasters.net Here is a brief description of how it works: On my Invertigo coaster I made a special connector that goes on the chain lift. It's essentially a gray one-rod clip, but I cut the top of the hole and fitted it onto a chain link with a rubber band. The car catches onto this piece and gets pulled up the lift hill. Once the connector on the chain link reaches the top and goes around the gear, it releases the train. You can see a video of this on my Youtube channel called "Invertigo update 1": m.youtube.com This method requires that the chain lifts be controlled to run both forwards and backwards at different times. On the lift hill adjacent to the loop, I used a switch that was triggered by connectors on the chain itself. That way, the motor turns on once it's triggered by the train, and then reverses itself to return the 'catch car's (gray connector on the chain) back to the bottom again. Now the other lift hill, the one behind the station, worked differently. I used my Lego Mindstorms NXT (a programmable computer-robot thing) to switch the motor on/off/reverse. I also used the NXT to control the opening/closing station gates and the dropping floor.. + Informações

Stinger was originally located at California's Great America from 1998 until 2010 where it was known as Invertigo. Invertigo was painted yellow and with royal blue supports. On August 10, 2009, at 12:15pm PST, the Invertigo roller coaster experienced a mechanical failure, trapping 24 people 80 feet (24 m) in the air in 90 degree weather. The park requested police and firefigher assistance. After the last rider was brought to safety at 5:45pm PST the riders were given pizza and soft drinks, free of charge. This was the third known major mechanical failure of this ride in 10 years. Invertigo reopened on July 24, 2010. On January 27, 2011, at 8:33 am PST, California's Great America announced that Invertigo would be removed from the theme park and relocated to a different amusement park. Cedar Fair stated that a new attraction would be placed at the former location of Invertigo. California's Great America also announced Invertigo will be going to a new home in a different Cedar Fair Park.. + Informações

Invertigo, at California's Great America in Santa Clara, California, was one of the park's most popular attractions that is until it's accident back in Summer 2009. The accident was a simple chain stall, but recieved much media attention due to more than two dozen riders being stranded nearly 100 feet in the air. Invertigo has been closed ever since the accident. However, in the past few weeks there have been indications of the attraction reopening. Walking by, I noticed water dummies, and while waiting for my party to get off the demon, the attraction started testing. Sorry for the shaky camera.
