III. Creed - The New Roman Missal for Interpreters 3.68 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 4573 exibições On November 27, 2011, the First Sunday of Advent, the Catholic Church will introduce the new edition of the Roman Missal. On March 22-24, 2011 a [series of] video clip/s was created by a national team of experienced Deaf persons, clergy, pastoral workers, and liturgical interpreters for reference and practice while preparing to interpret the new translation of the Roman Missal into American Sign Language for the Catholic Deaf Community. It is important to note that this is a working draft model and focuses on the Common parts of the Mass. In addition to serving as a training tool for Sign Language Interpreters, this project will also be a valuable resource for Deaf Adult Formation classes, Small Group discussion groups, and Religious Education classes for the Deaf, and more. For use with Sign Language Interpreters, this model is intended to communicate the concepts in the text through: · Choice of appropriate ASL signs · Use of space · Directionality · Eye gaze · Facial "expression" (affect/mood) This project has made sign choices based on the Liturgical meaning of a particular sign in context. The project was done in English using ASL (American Sign Language) and for use in any area where ASL is used. This resource is an invaluable resource to many sign language interpreters who have no training in their local areas, for small group interpreter workshop lead regionally, in many communities in the USA and Canada as we prepare to celebrate Liturgy all together as one Body .... + Informações |

Afghan interpreters the forgotten heroes 27.05.11 3.33 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 3390 exibições Military personnel often see interpreters as being the forgotten heroes of the war in Afghanistan. Without them, the task of communicating with the Afghan local population would be near impossible for troops. There are around 630 Afghan interpreters employed by coalition forces in Helmand and many go out on patrols and operations three or four times a day. Information gleaned by them can warn of imminent insurgent attacks and IED threats, and provide valuable intelligence. It is a dangerous job and most are forced to live a double life to protect their families. Despite the risks the interpreters say their input into operations is the very least they can do. Comprehensive files are kept on each and every interpreter detailing their qualifications and experience in the role, which is seen as being pivotal to the success in Afghanistan.. + Informações |

Multi-Languages Corporation - Helen Campbell: Conference Interpreting 83.08 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 418 exibições Nowadays the vast majority of conference interpreters follow university training programs to acquire the skills needed in the profession, learning how to improve their memory and concentration capacity, how to take and properly use notes for consecutive interpreting and finally to master the art of simultaneous interpreting. Way back in the early days of the profession, most interpreters, from Nuremberg on, learned by trial and error, from necessity and invention and by simply 'doing it'. Since then, training methods and formats have been developed by universities preparing future interpreters for a career, and also by employers -- ideally, by the two constituencies in tandem -- to pave the way for future generations of language staff. As times change, so do professional realities and environments, so training methods need to adapt accordingly. Conference interpreters and public service interpreters have an uphill struggle to establish quality standards, recognition of their professional status and a consensus on training to achieve the quality standards demanded by our profession. This presentation will look at ways to build on existing training methods for interpreters, to link up the lessons and experience gleaned 'on the job' in consecutive interpreting to the next step of simultaneous interpreting and look at some of the problems besetting interpreters embarking on applying their skills to the simultaneous mode.. + Informações |

Game Programming Tutorial 2 - Compilers and Interpreters 9.45 min. | 4.933884 avaliação | 18446 exibições elysianshadows.com The second video of our game development programming tutorial series has arrived. Kendall Hyatt (engine programmer of Elysian Shadows) walks us through each step of the compilation process. We take an in-depth look at exactly what happens during each phase, and why these are essential in the process of transforming your program from a string of characters to something a CPU can execute. We also take a look at the differences between compilers and interpreters and discuss the pros and cons of each. Finally, we look at languages and runtimes that are both compiled and interpreted (dynamic translation) such as JIT compilers (.NET) and Virtual Machines (Java).
