A week before Xmas, I had to judge a guitar solo competition called Strings On Fire. I had so much fun watching the entries; so I picked up an Ibanez J-Custom next to me, plugged it into my amp, and gave it a quick go myself just for fun. While playing, I had it recorded on a Zoom Q3 to test out this new camera. It turned out to be a lot of fun. Here is one of them for you to check out, after a few attempts of improvisation. (Note: the audio was recorded using the built-in video camera microphone.) Regarding the competition results, it was one of the hardest things I ever had to judge. There were so many great solos and it took me days to decide on the top 3. I had to take a few more things into account to help me make my final choice. Was the solo done in one take?
