Em 1971, quando poucos falavam sobre a necessidade de se preservar a natureza, um cantor de voz rouca começou a se destacar nas paradas de sucesso com uma música intitulada "Don't Let It Die", de sua própria autoria. Era a primeira gravação de Hurricane Smith. O que nem todos sabiam é que o novo cantor era Norman Smith, engenheiro de som de todas as gravações dos Beatles até 1965, ano em que foi gravado o álbum "Rubber Soul". Ele deixou a função porque a gravadora EMI o promoveu a produtor. Na nova função, Smith produziu os três primeiros álbuns de estúdio de uma nova banda - nada mais, nada menos que Pink Floyd. A sua carreira na gravadora incluiu a produção de grandes nomes da música, mas em 1971 surpreendeu a todos com a decisão de lançar sua carreira solo, desta vez como cantor, gravando a música deste vídeo que embalou muitos bailinhos por este Brasil afora. A canção foi sucesso absoluto em vários países, inclusive na própria Inglaterra, onde morava.
