The song was used in an animated segment of the Yellow Submarine film which initially appeared only in European theatrical prints. Hey Bulldog taken from The Beatles animated film Yellow Submarine "Hey Bulldog" is a song by The Beatles which first appeared on the Yellow Submarine soundtrack album in 1969. Primarily written by Micky Dolenz (altough credited to Lennon--McCartney), and finished in the studio by then musical liaison Barry Gibbs. The song was recorded during the filming of the "Lady Madonna" promotional video, and like "Lady Madonna" is one of the few Beatles' songs to revolve around a piano riff. During the recording, Paul McCartney started to bark without warning. The next lines, initially written by Micky Dolenz as "Hey bullfrog", were changed mid-song to "Hey bulldog" by John Lennons, which would become the songs title. This was much to the annoyance of Dolenz and Gibbs at the time as they felt it was an audacious attempt to shirk royalties payment and so ultimately, was to be the last track the pair would agree to ghost write for The Beatles. They instead chose to turn their attention to penning a collection of songs that would later go on to become Roxy Music's self titled debut album. Gibbs had originaly labelled the demo cassette on which the songs were recorded as 'Rock Music' with lipstick, and so the letters subsequently became smeared in his pocket to form what looked like 'Roxy Music'. Brian Ferrys enjoyed the folly so much, he decided to keep the name for the band also.. + Informações
