Song lyrics: There are certain things that keep me guessing, Though I try real hard to find them out, Well, I don't understand, so I'm confessing, That I don't know just what it's all about. See, I don't know the bad things from the good, Because my mother never told me all she should. A man showed me a lavaliere, He says "It's yours if you kiss me, dear," Oh, tell me, was there anything wrong in that? I kissed him once, and he asked for more, Next week he's bringing the jewelry store; Oh, tell me, was there anything wrong in that? Now, I was in the parlor, with this fellow last night, And I know why he kissed me and he squeezed me so tight; But I don't understand a bit, When he said, "Baby, you sure have 'It'," What's 'It'? Oh, is there anything wrong in that? A man loaned me his Cadilac, And I said that I would bring it back, Oh, tell me, was there anything wrong in that? Well, it was so cold in that great big boat, So, I just went and took his raccoon coat, Oh, tell me, was there anything wrong in that? I took my mother driving on that very same day, And she said, "Dear, you must return that car right away!" But the funniest thing, you'll never guess, I forgot his name and his address! Oh, tell me, was there anything wrong in that? Oh, tell me, tell me, please, was there anything wrong in that, huh? Now, I ask, was there anything wrong with that? Such questions drive me crazy, every day, something new, My poor brain gets hazy, don't know what to do! [Scatting] Oh, tell .... + Informações

Lyrics- Listen, big boy, Now that you got me made, Goodness, but I'm afraid, Somethin's gonna happen to you! Listen, big boy, You gotta be hooked, and how, I would die if I should lose you now! Button up your overcoat, When the wind is free, Oh Take good care of yourself, You belong to me! Eat an apple every day, Get to bed by three, Oh, take good care of yourself, You belong to me! Be careful crossing streets, ooh-ooh, Cut out sweets, ooh-ooh, Lay off meat, ooh-ooh, You'll get a pain and ruin your tum-tum! Wear your flannel underwear, When you climb a tree, Oh, take good care of yourself, You belong to me! Button up your overcoat, When the wind is free, Oh, take good care of yourself, You belong to me! Boop Oop e Doop! When you sass a traffic cop, Use diplomacy; Oh take good care of yourself, You belong to me! Beware of frozen ponds, ooh-ooh, Stocks and bonds, ooh-ooh, Peroxide blondes, ooh-ooh, You'll get a pain and ruin your bankroll! Keep the spoon out of your cup, When you're drinking tea, Oh, take good care of yourself, You belong to me! *Insturmental ( Poopity Boo Boo) Don't sit on hornet's tails, ooh-ooh! Or on nails, ooh-ooh! Or third rails, ooh-ooh! You'll get a pain and ruin your tum-tum! Keep away from bootleg hooch When you're on a spree, Oh, take good care of yourself, You belong to me!. + Informações

Victor 21863-A - This Song Peaked At #3 On US Music Charts In 1929. Song written by Ray Henderson, Buddy DeSylva & Lew Brown. This Is The Original Victor Version, I Also Have The Remastered One Posted As Well. Helen Kane (August 4, 1904 - September 26, 1966) was an American popular singer; her signature song was "I Wanna Be Loved By You". Kane's voice and appearance were a likely source for Fleischer Studios animator Grim Natwick when creating Betty Boop, although It-girl Clara Bow is another possible influence. Born as Helen Clare Schroeder, Kane attended St. Anselm's Parochial School in the Bronx. She was the youngest of three children. Her father, Louis Schroeder, the son of a German immigrant, was employed intermittently; her Irish immigrant mother, Ellen (Dixon) Schroeder, worked in a laundry. Kane's mother reluctantly paid $3 for her daughter's costume as a queen in Kane's first theatrical role at school. By the time she was 15 years, Kane was onstage professionally, touring the Orpheum Circuit with the Marx Brothers in On the Balcony. She spent the early 1920s trouping in vaudeville as a singer and kickline dancer with a theater engagement called the 'All Jazz Revue.' She played the New York Palace for the first time in 1921. Her Broadway days started there as well with the Stars of the Future (1922--24, and a brief revival in early 1927). She also sang onstage with an early singing trio, the Hamilton Sisters and Fordyce, later known as The Three X Sisters. Kane's .... + Informações

Here is a funny song performed in her inimitable style by legendary singer Helen Kane. Helen Kane (1903 - 1966) was an American popular singer, best known for her "boop-boop-a-doop" trademark and her signature song, "I Wanna Be Loved By You". Fleischer Studios animator Grim Natwick used Kane as the model for his studio's most famous creation, Betty Boop. She was born as Helen Schroeder, to a German father and an Irish mother. By the time she was 15 years old, Helen was onstage professionally, touring the Orpheum Circuit with the Marx Brothers. Helen spent the early 1920's trouping in vaudeville as a singer, and kickline dancer with a theater engagement called the All Jazz Revue. She played the New York Palace for the first time in 1921. She also sang onstage with an early girl harmony singing trio - The Hamilton Sisters and Fordyce. The big break of Helen Kane's career came in 1927, when appearing in a musical called "A Night in Spain". Kane's first performance at the Paramount Theater in Times Square proved to be her defining moment and career's launching point. Kane was singing the popular song "That's My Weakness Now", when she interpolated the scat lyrics "boop-boop-a-doop". The rather odd gamble paid off and, four days later, Helen Kane's name went up in lights. Overnight, the world changed for Helen. Kane's agent got her $5500 a week in Oscar Hammerstein's 1928 show "Good Boy" (where she first introduced the hit, "I Wanna Be Loved by You"). She had excellent diction .... + Informações

Helen Kane and Jack Oakie had incredible chemistry, and it is a real cinematic tragedy that their one movie, SWEETIE, was chopped up for television so that many of their scenes are now missing. (27 minutes appear to be missing from today's existing print. Existing publicity stills show what some of the scenes may have looked like.) A second movie co-starring them was planned, but cancelled because of the massive movie-musical cancellations in early 1931. In this precious scene, their characters meet each other for the first time and are intensely attracted to each other. "Are you here for good?" "For *good*?... Not now (that I've met you, baby)." If you watch closely, right after he says that they act as if they're about to kiss, only to be interrupted by the Professor. Helen's hand cuts down in a sharp gesture as if she's saying, "Darn it!". + Informações

Pennies from Heaven is a 1981 musical film. The movie was based on a 1978 BBC television drama. In 1981, Dennis Potter adapted his own screenplay for a film of the same name for American audiences, with its setting changed to Depression era Chicago. Potter was nominated for the 1981 Academy Award for Writing Adapted Screenplay, but lost to On Golden Pond. The film starred Steve Martin, Bernadette Peters, and Christopher Walken. The director was Herbert Ross and the choreographer was Danny Daniels.. + Informações

With the George Siravo orchestra. Helen Kane is best known as the "boop-boop-a-doop" girl of the 1920's who provided the inspiration for the character of Betty Boop. This song was originally a #1 hit in October 1914 for Arthur Collins and Byron Harlan. After being featured in the 1950 movie, "Two Weeks with Love", it became a hit all over again. It charted at #3 for Debbie Reynolds & Carleton Carpenter (who sang it in the movie) in February 1951, #9 for Richard Hayes and Kitty Kallen in March 1951, #12 for Freddy Martin and His Orchestra in March 1951, #19 for Cliff Steward & the San Francisco Boys in April 1951 and #23 for Hoagy Carmichael & Cass Daley in April 1951. It's kind of fitting that Helen recorded a song which became a hit for Debbie Reynolds since Debbie played her in the 1950 movie, "Three Little Words". Debbie lip synced Helen's signature song, "I Wanna Be Loved by You" in the film. Original Billboard review: "... it's the ork that takes top honors. Miss Kane's strident chant could intrigue the moppets, but the disk won't offer too much pop competition for earlier and stronger waxings." Overall Billboard rating: 70 out of 100. Written by Arthur Fields and Walter Donovan. The other side of this record is "Hug Me! Kiss Me! Love Me!".. + Informações

Helen Kane and Jack Oakie had incredible chemistry, and it is a real cinematic tragedy that their one movie, SWEETIE, was chopped up for television so that many of their scenes are now missing. (27 minutes appear to be missing from today's existing print. Existing publicity stills show what some of the scenes may have looked like.) A second movie co-starring them was planned, but cancelled, perhaps because of the massive movie-musical cancellations in 1930. In this multi-part clip, Jack does his cinema-history-making performance of Alma Mammy, which made history because at the movie premiere the audience reaction was so strong that they were forced to stop the movie, run it back, and repeat the number before the movie could continue. Jack credited Helen with being the one who told him to go straight into his Al Jolson impression without stopping to announce what he was going to do (which was the way it was originally scripted). Jack had to fight the studio to do it Helen's way, and the fact that she was right was proven when the premiere audience demanded an encore. Something to watch for is when Jack says, "Sugar baby," and then looks off camera at Helen and says, "boop-boopity boop-boop..." Immediately following the song, is the adorable little kissing scene between them. Jack wants the light out so that no one will interrupt them this time (see part 1). I can't understand what Helen is saying, but Jack says, "Ix-nay, Ix-nay the spotlight." (Ix-nay is Pig Latin for "nix .... + Informações
