This morning, as family members were packing up and departing after the funeral of Peter Gruner, a friend of mine, Philip Tétrault, came knocking on my door. Philip is a street person and a poet whom I have known for several years. My brother-in-law, Dick Brugger, is also a poet and has just recently been named "poet laureate of Auburn WA". Dick was staying with me during the family loss of our mutual brother-in-law Peter. It just so happened that they both arrived at my dining room table at breakfast time on Sunday, Jan 15th. En fait, Elie Wiesel se serait approprié l'identité de Lázár Wiesel et aurait usurpé celle d'Abraham pour son père. Miklós Grüner ajoute que, à l'occasion d'une rencontre avec Elie Wiesel, qui lui avait été présenté comme étant son ami Lázár Wiesel, ce dernier refusa de lui montrer son numéro d'immatriculation tatoué sur l'avant-bras. Il entreprit alors des recherches et découvrit qu'Elie Wiesel n'avait jamais été interné dans un camp de concentration et qu'il ne figurait sur aucune liste officielle de déportés. Les déclarations de Miklós Grüner ont été souvent reprises dans la presse mais sans jamais faire l'objet d'une enquête. Il ne reste donc plus qu'à les soumettre à une vérification s'appuyant sur la saine méthodologie critique révisionniste. Commençons par les données de l'état-civil d'Elie Wiesel. Il est né à Sighet, en Roumanie, le 30 septembre 1928, de Shlomo et Sarah Frig, fille de Dodye Feig, déporté à Birkenau le 16 mai 1944 (5). Avant tout il nous faut vérifier la crédibilité de l'accusateur. Ce que l'on peut dire avec certitude à propos de Miklós Grüner, c'est qu'il se trouvait à Buchenwald en mai 1945. Dans un « Questionnaire des détenus des camps de concentration » du Military Governent of Germany son nom apparaît bien, ainsi que sa date de naissance -- le 6 avril 1928.
