The supergroup from the late 80s featuring Jake E. Lee, Greg Chaisson, Eric Singer, and Ray Gillen came out with their self titled debut in about '89 (I think?). THese two tracks are track 3 and 4 on the album and Jade's Song is the instrumental followed by Winter's Call - one of the singles from this album. I think this is one of the musical pairs that needs to always be recognized as some of the most beautiful work ever. I think it's up there with "Bringing On The Heartache/Switch 625" and "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions", I didn't see these two tracks here on Youtube so I figured I'd spread the beauty myself. BADLANDS - DUSK, to the amazement of thousands of BADLANDS fans, was a demo that the band did for what their third album was to be. According to a conversation that I personally had with Greg Chaisson(Bass Player), DUSK was recorded in a span of 8 hours LIVE in the recording studio. This is a clear testament of how good they were as a band and how tight they were as well. Many of the lyrics here are improvised by Ray Gillen. Once this demo was completed it was turned to Jason Flom, an executive of Atlantic Records at the time. Jason didn't liked the direction that the band was going with this DEMO and gave them their record contract release. Add to that, the problems that the band had with their first manager Paul O' Neil and around this time 1992-1993, they were starting to have problems with Ray Gillen(Vocals) because of bad business decisions that were made and will result in the bands demise. Sometime in the 90s, Greg Chaisson and Jake E Lee were questioning what happened to this DEMO and after it was located, they acquired the rights to it. BADLANDS - DUSK was available first in 1996 by Pony Canyon Records in Japan and then in 1998 by Z RECORDS in the UK www.zrecords.net . It was never released to this date in the US. If you love the first BADLANDS self titled album and VOODOO HIGHWAY, you have to own this. Badlands was a short-lived rock band founded by former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee and former Black Sabbath members Ray Gillen and Eric Singer. Badlands also featured bassist Greg Chaisson. After the first Badlands album, Eric Singer was replaced by Jeff Martin. The group lasted from 1988 to 1993 and released two albums, Badlands (1989) and Voodoo Highway (1991) before Gillen left and was replaced by singer John West from New York. Ray's death in 1993 effectively ended any hopes of re-uniting the project. The album Dusk (originally recorded in 1992 - 1993) was posthumously released in 1998. After touring with Ozzy Osbourne in support of the Ultimate Sin album, Lee was fired in a telegram from Sharon Osborne while working on one of his muscle cars back in Los Angeles. Lee was completely caught off guard at the time of his firing as he was under the impression he had a solid working gig with the Osborne camp. Wishing to distance himself as much as possible from his former boss, he set about looking for a charismatic front man with which to launch a new band. Steeler was an early 1980s American heavy metal band from Nashville. Band members included: Ron Keel on vocals and guitar, Michael Dunigan on lead guitar, Bobby Eva on drums and Tim Morrison on bass. In 1982, they released the single Cold Day in Hell. Eva left the band after a short while and was replaced by drummer Mark Edwards. This new line-up did not last long and released no albums or singles. Soon, Dunigan and Morrison left Steeler and were replaced by Rik Fox on bass and an 18 year old Swedish guitarist, Yngwie Malmsteen. The new line-up released the band's first album, Steeler, it saw moderate commercial success and is now a sought after album for many fans of Malmsteen and Keel. The final line-up of Steeler saw the departure of Malmsteen, Fox and Edwards who were all replaced by Kurt James on lead guitar, Greg Chaisson on bass and Bobby Marks on drums. This line-up also released no albums or singles. Due to constant change in band members, Steeler never got the major record label it required and Keel decided to split up the band and start a new project. During Steeler's short time in the world of Heavy Metal, the band became quite popular in LA and even performed to some sold out venues. Steeler's self titled debut is considered 'groundbreaking'. John Sykes: John James Sykes (born 29 July 1959), is an English rock guitarist, who has played with Streetfighter, Tygers of Pan Tang, John Sloman's Badlands, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, and Blue Murder, in addition to having a notable solo career. Lee is a guitarist best known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne and the band Badlands. Lee took classical piano lessons as a child, and would also play around with his older sister's guitar. After discovering Jimi Hendrix, he knew he wanted to be a rock guitarist. He played in various high school bands and would eventually bring his skills to the San Diego music scene in the late 1970s. [edit] Musical career In San Diego he joined a band called Mickey Ratt in 1980, which later became the popular glam metal band Ratt. They released a single "Dr. Rock"/"Drivin On E", which they gave to fans at their shows. Ratt also released the song "Tell The World" on the first metal massacre album which also featured Metallica's first song "Hit The Lights". Lee soon left Ratt to join Rough Cutt which was produced by Ronnie James Dio and managed by Wendy Dio at that time. After hearing Lee in Rough Cutt in 1982, Ronnie James Dio invited Lee to join his band and Lee accepted. The other member was former Black Sabbath drummer and former bandmate of Dio, Vinny Appice.
