Jefferson Airplane's 1967 - White Rabbit White Rabbit was written by Grace Slick while she was still with The Great Society, and was originally performed by The Great Society. When that band broke up in 1966, Slick was invited to join Jefferson Airplane to replace their departed lead singer. The first album she recorded with Jefferson Airplane was Surrealistic Pillow, and Slick provided two songs, Somebody to Love (recorded as Someone to Love by The Great Society) and White Rabbit, that had been previously recorded and performed by The Great Society. Both songs became breakout successes for Jefferson Airplane and have since been associated with that band. One pill makes you larger And one pill makes you small And the ones that mother gives you Don't do anything at all Go ask Alice When she's ten feet tall And if you go chasing rabbits And you know you're going to fall Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar Has given you the call Call Alice When she was just small When men on the chessboard Get up and tell you where to go And you've just had some kind of mushroom And your mind is moving slow Go ask Alice I think she'll know When logic and proportion Have fallen sloppy dead And the White Knight is talking backwards And the Red Queen's "off with her head!" Remember what the dormouse said; "Keep YOUR HEAD. + Informações

I tried to make a more interesting video. The live version of Daydream Nightmare Love with grace slick on vocals I love the weird drum beat in the song except for the part where Jerry slick is just pounding the cymbals, I also love the guitar riff in the middle as well as the bass guitar Arrangement; Lead Guitar-Darby Slick Bass Guitar-Peter Van Gelder Recorder-Grace Slick Vocals-Grace Slick Drums-Jerry Slick This is the best song david miner wrote for the great society (but I like You can't cry too) (I Think some people think this songs name is watch me run so if your looking for that, this is it). + Informações

Written by Darby Slick for The Great Society a band Grace Slick also played in before Jefferson Airplane/Starship Surrealistic Pillow Studio album by Jefferson Airplane Released February 1967 Recorded October 31, 1966 -- November 22, 1966 Genre Psychedelic rock, folk rock Length 33:40 Label RCA Victor Producer Rick Jarrard Jefferson Airplane's fusion of folk rock and psychedelia was original at the time, in line with musical developments pioneered by The Byrds, The Mamas & the Papas, and Bob Dylan. Surrealistic Pillow was the first blockbuster psychedelic album by a band from San Francisco, announcing to the world the active bohemian scene that had developed there starting with The Beats during the 1950s, extending and changing through the 1960s into the Haight-Ashbury counterculture. Subsequently, the exposure generated by the Airplane and others wrought great changes to that counterculture, and by 1968 the ensuing national media attention had precipitated a very different San Francisco scene than had existed in 1966. San Francisco photographer, Herb Greene photographed the band for the album's cover art. Some controversy exists as to the role of Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia in the making of the album. His reputed presence on several tracks is not corroborated by RCA paperwork and is denied by producer Rick Jarrard. But when performing Comin' Back to Me live with Jefferson Starship, Marty Balin almost always introduced the song with a reference to the .... + Informações

A Garage Rock Song By The Great Society, It's pretty good When you came to me you spoke softly, And told the Truth, When you came to me you were Good, But now your love is Gone, Even though You still Pretend It's Strong! When you came to me spoke softly, When you came to me you were only, My Lifetime Cream! If the words inside were obscene, Dude you sang my song! Didn't know that the words were wrong! When you Came To me you spoke softly, If You Should ever Leave My heart would break, If you should ever leave I'd Be Sad! Everybody knows that you been foolin' With somebody! Everybody Knows that you been Bad! Everybody Knows that you been Bad. The lies that you told, Have evidently? never sold. Everybody Knows That You been fooling, With Somebody! Everybody Knows That You Been Bad! The Sand Over My Shoes, Has Been Blowing since before the Blues! Everybody knows that you been Bad! Originally Written By Darby Slick. + Informações

Arrangements; Drums-Jerry Slick Lead Guitar- Darby Slick Bass Guitar- Peter Van Gelder Vocals- Grace Slick Tambourine- Grace Slick Never Thought That it could be, The One Face That I'd Love, Never Thought That I could place, That One Above The other, But His way of turning On seemed right to me, and I think that he'll make me free. Things that he chooses to, put in his mind, Seem To To Have Placed His Sadness, Behind him, And If I have To Follow, It will change the way he lives, And with me his Sovereignty, Can't be Lost By what I give, And If he mentions leaving I can't do no more, To make Him stay Behind an open door, The love That he looses He will find again another way, And I won't be The One to Tell Him, Where He Must Play. When I first Met Him, He was Glaring At Me, And I Think It was Black That He, was Wearing At The Time, But He Spoke Of Changes, And Said Come With Me, And I was Glad To Leave, I have heard So many Things, I never Thought I'd feel Before, And I won't be Through with him, Until He sits like a raven Written by Grace Slick. + Informações

Written By Grace Slick Arrangements; Bass Guitar, Peter Van Gelder Lead Guitar, Darby Slick Rhythm Guitar, David Miner Drums, Jerry Slick Grace Slick Vocals I love him, as often as I may, and I will give him before it goes away, the grass and wine brought love that makes him laugh and gentle. Look! at him he may be smiling, the eyes are wide and black and acid clear, not exactly knowing why he stays when he speaks of leaving. He won't same time, I want to love tomorrow He knows the one I love each time is never quite the same. but it's so near and with that in mind I'll ask to borrow him. Look! At the love that has him moving on and on. Stop anything that makes the loving bore, And when? he uses every soft word that I say, He'll go away. I love him, as often as I may, and I will give him before it goes away, the grass and wine brought love that makes him laugh and gentle. Look! at him he may be smiling, the eyes are wide and black and acid clear, not exactly knowing why he stays when he speaks of leaving. He won't same time, I want to love tomorrow He knows the one I love each time is never quite the same but it's so near and with that in mind I'll ask to borrow him. Look! At the love that has him moving on and on. Stop anything that makes the loving bore, And when? he uses every soft word that I say, He'll go away. Thank you Darby. + Informações

one of my favorite songs by the great society I looked out my window, The cloud, Was grimly forming, Waiting for the Rain I saw, The one Dark cloud forming, The Soldiers, Paid no heed, I could hear their hollow laughter, Down the hill in pairs and Threes The Red Cross Girls Came After. Gypsies, drunk and roaring With their Ribbon Sabre's flying, In It's Tangled Jungle mess, A bat was softly crying The beggars came to find that there was nobody buying I looked out my window, The cloud, Was grimly forming, Waiting for the rain I saw-ahh! The Dark Cloud Forming, The Soldiers paid no Heed, I-could-hear-Their-Hollow-Laughter, And waiting for The Rain, I Saw The Gypsies Marching After. Written By Peter Van Gelder.. + Informações

I had this song on here a couple of years ago but copyright issues forced it's removal. Someone requested I put the song back up. Love you girl, probably the great societies most pop-ish song, I mean that in a good way. Recorded in 1965, released in 1995. Was Included on The MGMT compilation. + Informações
