BBC 1 Reporter, Carrie Grant interviews Gilbert from his Jersey Studio where they touch upon the creation of the Bisto Kid image including the Chaplin jacket. The crafting of his early songs in his bedsit ( A one-room apartment typically consisting of a combined bedroom and sitting room with cooking facilities.) and the importance of his debut single for MAM Records, "Nothing Rhymed." October 2010 marked the 40th Anniversary of the release of Gilbert`s first single, "Nothing Rhymed." This remarkable song is still poignant today with lyrics like " Will I glance at my screen and see real human beings starve to death right in front of my eyes ". Since 1970, the song has been covered by such artists as Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, Burton Cummings, Yvonne Elliman, Aslan and Morrissey . The song reached the top spot in the Netherlands and was a major Italian hit, performed by I Profeti, with the title "Era Bella" ("She was Beautiful"). PLEASE NOTE: Gilbert is called a British artist for the simple fact that is was in the UK that he achieved his chart success. It is well known that Gilbert was born in Ireland and is Irish.
