George Mccrae - I get lifted 2.72 min. | 4.923841 avaliação | 182190 exibições George McCrae (born 19 October 1944 at West Palm Beach, Florida) is a soul singer most famous for his 1974 hit "Rock Your Baby" released on the independent TK Records label based in Hialeah, Florida. McCrae formed his own singing group, the Jivin' Jets, before joining the US Navy in 1963. Four years later, he reformed the group, with his wife Gwen joining the line-up, but soon afterwards they decided to work as a duo, recording for Henry Stone's Alston record label. Gwen then won a solo contract, with George acting as her manager as well as doing some singing on sessions and in clubs. He was about to return to college to study law enforcement when Richard Finch & Harry Wayne Casey of KC and the Sunshine Band invited him to sing the lyrics for a song that they had recorded for the band but couldn't reach the high notes that were required for the song. When he sang the song and hit the high-pitch notes, Finch & Casey knew it was going to be a big hit for George. So the boys offered it to him and the rest is history. It suited his high-pitched voice to the extent that the song, Rock Your Baby, became one of the first hits of the disco era in 1974, selling an estimated eleven million copies worldwide, topping the charts in the US, UK, and over 80 other countries. The song was so successful that Rolling Stone Magazine voted it the #1 song of the year, back in 1974. George received a Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocalist the following year. Two further single releases, I .... + Informações |

GEORGE & GWEN McCRAE - ROCK YOUR BABY - BABY BOLLOX MAGIC REMIX 8.42 min. | 4.884058 avaliação | 21689 exibições GEORGE & GWEN McCRAE - ROCK YOUR BABY - BABY BOLLOX MAGIC REMIX. One of the first hits of the Disco era, this sold over 11 million copies worldwide. The song was written by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch of KC and the Sunshine Band, and it formed the basis for their wildly successful writing and performing partnership which yielded 5 more US #1 hits and pioneered the Disco sound. Casey and Finch worked for TK Records, which was a distributor and a studio, complete with a house band that would become KC and the Sunshine Band. One of the artists who recorded at TK was Timmy Thomas, who had a hit with "Why Can't We Live Together?" Said Finch: "His organ was left up in the studio, and 'Rock Your Baby' became born unto this crazy drum machine that was inside of this Lowry organ that he left there. I used to use that as a tempo map, and I would play along with the drum machine. In the beginning it would hide my errors, but it would also teach me to be a better drummer, because I was paying attention to it that closely. Then we would build on that. We had a 1" 8-track machine and I had a cheap Japanese bass. We were just recording and recording and recording. And one night, this one track came out like better than anything else. It was like God was in the building or something - we had been blessed. It was like the hunger and desire was so incredibly overwhelming that some magical moment happened in there. We knew to build on that track. There were a bunch of records coming .... + Informações |
