An Author accepts a challenge from his publisher to write an old fashioned English novel in 24 hours. The publisher gives him the only key to a remote country inn so that he will have seclusion for writing. The writing is interrupted when a number of people arrive with keys to the house and let themselves in. Keith Thompson, organist, plays Stephen Foster songs on California Palace of The Legion of Honor's magnificent pipe organ. Mr. Thompson was one of four finalists in the Grand Prix de Chartres, International Concours d'Orgue in Chartres, France. He serves as the organist today at the Novato (California) Methodist Church. The one-of-a-kind pipe organ, built in 1924, has 4500 pipes with the smallest being just over one foot long and the longest at 32 feet. America's best-known World War One song, Over There, Sung by George M. Cohan and played on my VV-210 1924 Victor. I picked up this unit at a local antique store in Maryland for 225.00 USD. As far I can it is all original and the motor was in fantastic shape. The reproducer on the unit was of the wrong vintage, so purchased a rebuilt #2 to restore the original sound. My future plans are to have the cabinet front and top refinished, and send the motor out for a good cleaning and rebuild.. + Informações
