"Too Close For Comfort" was written by Jerry Bock, George David Weiss, and Larry Holofcener in 1956 for the Broadway musical "Mr. Wonderful" where it was introduced by Sammy Davis Jr. Later that same year Eydie Gorme would record a Top 40 hit version of it and the song has been recorded by many since. "The Lion sleeps tonight" - Für dieses Stück lass ich auch mal die Gitarre stehen (ausnahmsweise) und begebe mich an einen etwas aufwendigeren Schnitt! Mit meinen bescheidenen Mitteln hab ich extra für euch 45 Tracks in mühevoller Kleinarbeit zerstückelt, zurechtgerückt in 3500 sinnvoll aufeinanderfolgende Teile, und dazu passende Filmsequenzen angefertigt ;) Trotz dieser Sissifuss-Arbeit hat es mir wie immer einen riesen Spaß gemacht! Ich hoffe das sieht man auch und freue mich über eure Kommentare. Euch viel Spaß beim Hören, Sehen und MITSINGEN!!! Undoubtedly, a song with one of the most complicated copyright stories of any popular song recorded in the past 50 years. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was originally written in 1939 by Solomon Linda and entitled "Mbube" (Zulu for "lion"). Solomon made the recording with a group called The Evening Birds, and their recording including the now famous "chant" heard in the more modern versions of the song. Later in 1949 Pete Seeger and The Weavers made a folk song out of it changing the title to "Wimoweh" which was actually a mispronunciation of the original chant (but "Wimoweh" is what it sounded like to The Weavers). Next, turn to the year 1961 and enter record producers Hugo & Luigi who hire songwriter and arranger George David Weiss to work on an adaptation of the Weavers' version for a doo-wop group called The Tokens. Weiss writes a version that was so radically different from the folk song with which The Tokens were familiar that they at first refused to record it. However, they subsequently were convinced and along with the operatic voice of Anita Darian, the #1 pop hit during November and much of December, 1961 was born. The copyright issues finally came to a head when Disney decided to use this recording for its 1994 animated film "The Lion King". By this time, at least three separate writing entities had a stake in this song.
