I love the language in these old songs, even if I don't fully understand them. From Wikipedia: "Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag, and Smile, Smile, Smile" is the full name of a World War I marching song, published in 1915 in London. It was written by George Henry Powell under the pseudonym of "George Asaf", and set to music by his brother Felix Powell. A play presented by the National Theatre recounts how these music hall stars rescued the song from their rejects pile and re-scored it to win a wartime competition for a marching song. It became very popular, boosting British morale despite the horrors of that war. It was one of a large number of music hall songs aimed at maintaining morale, recruiting for the forces, or defending Britain's war aims. "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" is a British music hall and marching song written by Jack Judge (and co-credited but not co-written by Harry Williams (Henry James Williams)) that, allegedly, was written for a 5 shilling bet in Stalybridge, on the 30 January 1912 and performed the next night at the local music hall. Another request for Hayley (checkattitude) this time for a song dating back to 1915 and the First World War. As you know millions died on both sides during that 'War to end all wars', but despite the horrors of the trenches, young men were encouraged to 'enlist'. To make light of the horrors, patriotic songs such as this were encouraged by the powers that be and this song became one of the best known from the Allied side in that awful period. In common with many I am sure, I only really knew the chorus before looking for this song and was quite surprised to find that there are three verses that go with it. Unlike Daisy Bell (A Bicycle Built For Two), I have been able to work out a chord progression for this song, so here it is. I apologise for the use of the term Bosche, but it is part of the song and is the nickname given to German troops by the Allies at the time. A música dessa vez foi escolhida entre as que ele tem sentido mais prazer em tocar ultimamente e trata-se de AFFIRMATION de José Feliciano, música esta imortalizada na guitarra de George Benson. Produzimos de forma caseira uma base que sirva de simples moldura para o piano do Asafe. O baixo foi tocado com o Jv 1010 Roland, a bateria é uma amostra (Sampler), apenas o sax tenor ea guitarra são reais. Espero que gostem do piano, pois os outros instrumentos serviram apenas de apoio.
