Manuel and the Music of the Mountains - Lisboa Antigua 2.85 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 2948 exibições For the numerous Manuel fans (and for all other music lovers of course) here is the crystal clear sound of 'Manuel and his Music of the Mountains' again. Another brilliant arrangement by Geoff Love (alias Manuel) - this time of the hauntingly beautiful melody "Lisboa Antigua", also known under it's English title "In old Lisbon". Many people may know the version by Nelson Riddle and His Orchestra which was arranged especially by Riddle for the 1956 movie "Lisbon". That orchestral version was quite a big hit back then and hence, a large number of music fans got to know the melody. In the movie it was sung by the Portuguese fado singer Anita Guerreiro. From the 1967 album "Beyond the mountains" here, for your 'listening pleasure' is Manuel and his Music of the Mountains with "Lisboa Antigua". Enjoy !. + Informações |

Manuel and the Music of the Mountains - Our Concerto 3.52 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 7790 exibições The distinctive sound of Manuel and his Music of the Mountains fits this composition by Umberto Bindi wonderfully. Originally a big hit in Italy in 1960 ("Il nostro concerto" remained in the Italian hitparade for several weeks) this song by Bindi soon conquered Europe. Another well known song by Bindi is "You're my world" which was covered by many artists. Here we have Manuel's cover of "Our concerto" and it sure sounds "like an orchestral hit" ;-) ! Manuel and the Music of the Mountains - Meditation (Meditaçäo) 3.88 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 4966 exibições Manuel and His Music of the Mountains play a fantastic arrangement of this Jobim jazz standard. Antonio Carlos Jobim wrote more than 50 compositions of which some 25 became "world standards". It is no wonder that some musicians called him "the Gershwin of latin music". Many of his songs have been performed by well known singers and orchestras and especially Frank Sinatra (who was a close friend of Jobim) loved his tunes. (He recorded two albums together with Jobim). This Brazilian composer (who died in 1994) is seen as a legend in Brazil (and elsewhere!) - that's why the Rio de Janeiro airport is now called "Airport Antonio Carlos Jobim" The harmony and melodic lines that appear in his music are both surprising and "simple" at the same time. This "Meditation" definitely is a good example of that. Enjoy !. + Informações |

He wrote the song while serving in WWII. The song made the popular song charts in a 1958 version by English singer Laurie London with the Geoff Love Orchestra, which went all the way to #1 of the Most Played by Jockeys song list in the USA and went to number three on the R&B chart. It was the most successful record by a British male in the 50's in the USA. The record reached #2 on Billboard's Best Sellers In Stores survey and #1 in Cashbox's Top 60. Kai Warner - Dancing on the Shore 2.98 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 6211 exibições Kai Warner (real name Werner Last and indeed brother of the more famous James Last) developped a sound of his own in the seventies. He also composed a number of songs and this "Dancing on the shore" is one of his better works. The tune was often used as signature tune for radio programs in Europe (and maybe also outside the 'old continent'...?) Anyway, here's Kai Warner and his Orchestra with a tune that will "conquer your ears" if you never heard it before ..... Enjoy !. + Informações |
