The late Tony Osborne was a British musical arranger who worked with many major stars ( Shirley Bassey , Eartha Kitt , Dorothy Squires , Connie Francis , Gracie Fields , Alma Cogan , Max Bygraves , Judy Garland ) and also released a series of his own albums over his career . Soul Street is from his 1969 album `Brass`N`Ivory`. He is the father of songwriter Gary Osborne who has written several hit singles. For a while Gary also co-wrote songs with Elton John ( Little Jeannie , Part Time Love , Blue Eyes etc ) and with Jeff Wayne on War of The World -writing most of the lyrics for that album including Forever Autumn.. + Informações

From the 12 inch vinyl! The original version is on Elton's album "The Fox" from 1981. It was also a top 40 single. Gary Osborne wrote the words to a tune by Jean-Paul Dreau. The original song was "J'veux d'la Tendresse", which Elton had heard on the radio in France, sung by Janic Prevost. "When a mild man says to you, 'My father never liked me', you can't be unmoved", said Osborne, who considers the song among his best. Elton singing in French! This was the original version of "Nobody Wins", a song on Elton's 1981 album "The Fox". Written by Jean-Paul Dreau, the title means "I Want Tenderness". Elton had heard Janic Prevost sing it on the radio in France, and wanted to do an English version of it. Gary Osborne wrote the lyrics "Nobody Wins" for Elton to sing in English. 1980s demo by Elton John. The song eventually became "Lonely Boy" and was only released as a b-side on the "Passengers" single (perhaps on some other singles as well). Lyrics by Gary Osborne. There is a shorter demo of this song, which reveals Elton's first version with his own words. From the first demo Gary Osborne would have completed the lyrics, as we hear in this longer demo of "Lonely Man" and then finally as the song "Lonely Boy". This was how Elton wrote songs with Gary Osborne in the late seventies and early eighties. Elton came up with words and music first, then Osborne completed the song with full lyrics. By contrast, Elton's work with Bernie Taupin (his main lyricist) has usually been receiving Taupin's lyrics and then setting them to music. (There were a few exceptions to this, however!) From the Complete Thom Bell Sessions remastered album released in 1989. Original recordings began in the Autumn of 1977 before being remixed in January 1979. Subsequently, 'The Thom Bell Sessions' were released to the US only as a 12"m with just Are You Ready For Love - Three Way Love Affair and Mama Cant Buy You Love and rose to a respectable #51 (considering it was not a full length studio album) In 1989 the entire session was released onto disc for the first time and included the extended (rather bluesy) editon of Shine On though, which was already individually acclaimed as the opening track on 1978's A single Man. And also Country Love Song (The only song of the selection to be completely written by J.Jefferson). This song was the only song on the album of which Gary Osbourne wrote the lyrics.
