Gary Hughes' solo project (you might know him from Ten), entitled Once and Future King is a wonderful rock opera based on the myths and legends of King Arthur. Collecting some of the best musicians and voices he created a 100 minutes long journey, using hard rock, AOR and progressive rock patterns combined with some symphonic metal and strong vocals. Video is a tribute to Gary Hughes of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee who passed away on June 5, 2009 at the age of 54. Gary was born in Brevard County and was a graduate of Cocoa Beach High School. He loved the ocean and was an accomplished waterman and surfer. He was also an excellent guitarist, able to play a number of styles including blues, jazz, Hawaiian Slack Key and traditional mountain music. He also became an expert at guitar buildinng and repair. He was widely respected among the mountain music community for his musical talent and his generous spirit. On June 28th, a traditional Hawaiian Paddle-Out was held at a local Cocoa Beach surf spot to honor Gary. Gary is the featured guitarist heard in the background music.
