Fritz Kreisler plays Thaïs-Meditation 4.03 min. | 4.970297 avaliação | 215044 exibições Here is Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) playing his arrangement of the Meditation from Thaïs by Jules Massenet (1842-1912). The piece was originally scored for solo violin and orchestra as part of an entr'acte in the second act of Massenet's 1894 opera Thaïs. Since then, it has been arranged for a variety of instrumentations and ensembles. This recording was made in RCA Victor's studios in Camden, New Jersey in late 1928. Kreisler plays Kreisler-Liebesleid 3.43 min. | 4.9413147 avaliação | 343559 exibições This is Fritz Kreisler playing his own peice Liebeslied (sorry I don't have a video). I am in love with Kreisler's sound. His playing is so romantic, elegant, and beautiful that he must be regarded as one of the great violinists of all time. Plus, who can argue with a violinist who wrote the damn peice in the first place?. + Informações |

(Rare!) Fritz Kreisler's 80th Birthday Interview (Part 1) (1955-02-02) 6.42 min. | 4.963964 avaliação | 30061 exibições Quite a rare material. Fritz Kreisler is interviewed by Abraham Chasens, the musical manager of WQXR Radio station, on his 80th birthday, February 2nd, 1955. This was special tribute program broadcasted on that day. And as far as I know, this is the only recording of Kreisler's voice which was commercially available. (except for few other radio transcriptions and newsreel soundtracks). Before the interview, we can hear "transcribed greetings" of his collegues, Mischa Elman, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein, Erica Morini, Joseph Szigeti, Ruggiero Ricci, Isaac Stern. While the actual interview recordings are playing, you can see the photos of Kreisler and cellist Pablo Casals' having conversation in 1958 (Courtesy of the LIFE magazine). + Informações |

Mischa Elman plays Fritz Kreisler: "Sicilienne and Rigaudon in the style of Francoeur" 4.58 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 19070 exibições Mischa Elman (1891 - 1967) and Fritz Kreisler (1875 - 1962) were two well-known recording violinists in the early part of the 20. century whose popularity diminished as their older, more "romantic" style grew out of fashion. Although Elman's early discs display a much tighter technical grasp of the instrument, his LPs give a rare insight into what this style of performance sounds like when heard through the full spectrum of sound. Here Elman performs Kreisler's piece "Sicilienne and rigaudon in the style oof Francoer".. + Informações |

Fritz Kreisler - de Falla: Danza Espanola (La Vida Breve) 3.45 min. | 4.714286 avaliação | 4268 exibições La vida breve (Life is Short, also: The Brief Life) is an opera in two acts and four scenes by Manuel de Falla to an original Spanish libretto by Carlos Fernández-Shaw. The first performance was given at the Casino Municipal in Nice on April 1, 1913. The complete opera, only an hour in length, is seldom performed today, but its dances are, especially the famous Interlude and Dance, played often at orchestral concerts of Spanish music. Also, the Danse Espagnole, part of the wedding celebrations, is well-known among the violin-playing world as a violin showpiece arranged by Fritz Kreisler. The opera is unusual for having as much purely instrumental as vocal music. Its opening scene effectively portrays a typical morning in the village, with a male chorus of anvil workers plying their trade in the local forge. Kreisler, Fritz (actually, Friedrich), great Austrian-born American violinist; b. Vienna, Feb. 2, 1875; d. NY, Jan. 29, 1962. His extraordinary talent manifested itself when he was only 4, and it was carefully fostered by his father, under whose instruction he made such progress that at age 6 he was accepted as a pupil of Jacob Dont. He also studied with Jacques Auber until, at 7, he entered the Vienna Conservatory, where his principal teachers were Hellmesberger Jr. (violin) and Bruckner (theory). He gave his first performance there when he was 9 and was awarded its gold medal at 10. He subsequently studied with Massart (violin) and Delibes (composition) at the Paris .... + Informações |
