"Come To Me" was a #1 disco hit from 1979 performed by Canadian singer France Joli, who had recorded it at the age of fifteen with producer Tony Green, who composed the song and briefly sings on it. The track also features the famed Philadelphia session vocalists The Sweethearts of Sigma Sound. Introduced on the album "France Joli" released in the US in April 1979 on Prelude Records, "Come To Me" received a major boost in July 1979 when Joli performed it as a last minute replacement for Donna Summer at a concert held on Fire Island. "Come To Me" began a three-week reign atop the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play on September 22nd, 1979 and the "France Joli" album rose to #26. On the Billboard Hot 100, "Come To Me" peaked at #15, a symptom of the increasing disenchantment of pop radio with disco music. I have noticed a surge of tracks by Joli appearing on iTunes and Spotify recently, which is nice to see! This track used to be up on YouTube a long time ago, though was taken down recently. The original incarnation of the single was a CD single with eurodance/hi-nrg styled remixes intended for radio but received limited airplay. The song belatedly became a hit in clubs, reaching #24 on Hot Dance Music/Club Play, when new remixes by Darrin "Spike" Friedman were released on vinyl 12" single. There were two separate 12" singles released individually, each featuring a different Darrin Friedman remix, along with the other mixes from the CD single divided between the two records. The song became a regional hit in the New York tri-state area, as it was a favorite of DJs such as Jonathan Peters and Junior Vasquez at their weekly residencies.. + Informações

From AllMusic.com: After providing three LPs for Prelude, France Joli made her major-label debut when she recorded her fourth album, Attitude, for Epic in 1983. This LP signaled a major change of direction for the French-Canadian singer, who was best known for disco and R&B/pop during her Prestige years but emphasizes pop/rock and Europop on Attitude. If you notice that much of the record has a European flavor, it's no coincidence. Attitude was produced by Pete Bellotte, who is best known for his Euro-disco work with Donna Summer -- and the executive producer is Bellotte's German colleague Giorgio Moroder. Further, Richie Zito (who co-produced Berlin's "No More Words" with Moroder and is no stranger to Euro beats) is employed as an arranger, guitarist, and keyboardist. People who were expecting another "Come to Me" or "Gonna Get Over You" from Joli were disappointed; however, those who were open to hearing her exploring pop/rock and Europop found a lot to admire about infectious tracks like "Dumb Blonde," "Mad About the Boy," and "Girl in the '80s." The closest Joli gets to R&B on this album is an inspired remake of the Four Tops' "Standing in the Shadows of Love," which employs the Pips as background vocalists. So instead of Gladys Knight & the Pips, you get "France Joli & the Pips."
