Sinead O'Connor & the Chieftains- The Foggy Dew 3.48 min. | 4.936345 avaliação | 1976784 exibições As down the glen one Easter morn To a city fair rode I, Their armed lines of marching men In squadrons passed me by. No pipe did hum, no battle drum Did sound its loud tattoo But the Angelus' bells o'er the Liffey swells Rang out in the foggy dew. Right proudly high in Dublin town Hung they out a flag of war. 'Twas better to die 'neath an Irish sky Than at Suvla or Sud el Bar. And from the plains of Royal Meath Strong men came hurrying through; While Brittania's Huns with their long-range guns Sailed in through the foggy dew. The bravest fell, and the requiem bell Rang mournfully and clear For those who died that Easter-tide In the springing of the year. While the world did gaze with deep amaze At those fearless men but few Who bore the fight that freedom's light Might shine through the foggy dew. And back through the glen I rode again And my heart with grief was sore For I parted then with valiant men Whom I never shall see more But to and fro In my dreams I go And I kneel and pray for you For slavery fled Oh, glorious dead When you fell in the foggy dew. + Informações |

Foggy Mountain Breakdown for guitar 1.57 min. | 4.9709563 avaliação | 441351 exibições RIP Earl Scruggs After Dueling Banjos and Jesse James this felt like the one to try. Written by the great Earl Scruggs and made famous in the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde. I use a drop-G tuning, (don´t know if it has a name(?), only the A string is retuned down to a G) because then you have the root notes of the three chords used, G major, E minor and D major, as open "bass" strings. Of course it doesn´t have to be played at such high tempo (but it should be!) - it´sa bit of a struggle (this is like the 100th take :) I´ve also noticed this style seems to require some nail on the right hand, otherwise the overall sound may become a bit "blurred". This is just an idea and it could be developed further, with more solo parts etc. TAB available at www.tallstrom.com Yeehaw! Martin. + Informações |

The Wolfe Tones - The Foggy Dew 3.45 min. | 4.862802 avaliação | 451360 exibições Song about the Easter Rising in Dublin 1916 As down the glen one Easter morn to a city fair rode I Their Armed lines of marching men in squadrons passed me by No pipes did hum no battle drum did sound it's loud tatoo But the Angelus bell o'er the Liffey swell rang out through the foggy dew Right proudly high over Dublin Town they flung out the flag of war 'Twas better to die 'neath an Irish sky than at Sulva or Sud El Bar And from the plains of Royal Meath strong men came hurrying through While Britannia's Huns, with their long range guns sailed in through the foggy dew 'Twas England bade our Wild Geese go that small nations might be free But their lonely graves are by Sulva's waves or the fringe of the Great North Sea Oh, had they died by Pearse's side or fought with Cathal Brugha Their names we will keep where the fenians sleep 'neath the shroud of the foggy dew Oh the bravest fell, and the requiem bell rang mournfully and clear For those who died that Easter tide in the spring time of the year While the world did gaze, in deep amaze, at those fearless men but few Who bore the fight that freedom's light might shine through the foggy dew Back through the glen I rode again and my heart with grief was sore For I parted with those valiant men whom I never shall see more But to and fro in my dreams I go and I'd kneel and pray for you, For slavery fled, O glorious dead, When you fell in the foggy dew.. + Informações |

Hear me holler down the mountain side I'm near the sky blinking at the evil eye Hear me holler at the city's grind It stole my soul just about lost my mind Let the loneliness roll in Like the foggy mountain dew Wipe the madness from my eye 'Till my anger slowly dies When the shadow play begins I'll be watching thru the night 'Till I find myself again Hear me holler cross the sea of light It took my dream and smashed it 'gainst the night Hear me holler at the town below Got nothing left to make me stay and no place left to go Let the loneliness roll in Like the foggy mountain dew Wipe the madness from my eye 'Till my anger slowly dies When the shadow play begins I'll be watching thru the night 'Till I find myself again ?? www.steppenwolf.com The official Steppenwolf website. www.facebook.com John Kay & Steppenwolf Should Be In The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame ~ [Many thanks to the copyright owners UMG for allowing this to be heard on YouTube] ~ ?. + Informações |

Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs - Foggy Mountain Breakdown (Original 1949) 2.73 min. | 4.9819818 avaliação | 38659 exibições One of the greatest instrumentals ever recorded. The 1949 recording was used in the movie Bonnie and Clyde and then re-recorded after the film. The original version, in my opinion, was far superior to the more familier version that most people know and play today. It's faster, there were no breaks and the noting was more complicated. Earl Scruggs at his very best.. + Informações |
