Hey, this is a new song that I've been working on for my new record. It's nowhere near done but I just wanted to get people's opinions as it's a bit more honest than everything else I've done. The song, if anything, is about convincing me to keep going. I've been having the worst time lately, feeling like nothing's happening, or if it is.. it's going wrong. But there's a few things that keep faith in my heart and help me carry on with my dreams. So I guess this song's kinda from their perspective.. be it music, love or friends. Mercadante composed "Il bravo" between 1838 and 1839, not without difficulty, as he had problems with finding a reliable librettist, going through Bindocci, soon replaced with Gaetano Rossi and later on with Marcelliano who, on the composer's demand, was supervised by Felice Romani. The work was written for Domenico Donzelli (nearing the end of an illustrious career) and premiered with an excellent cast (headed by Schoberlechner, the first Elaisa). The success of the opening night at la Scala on the 9th of March, 1839, was complete. No. 6. Act One Finale. The main focal points of the drama occur, predictably, in the finales which, in an opera set in Venice during a carnival, are gargantuan in both their sheer size and the musical scope Mercadante applies: thus, the Act One Finale actually lasts about thirty minutes (half of the act's running time), going through various ariosos, duettinos and choral scenes. Truth be told, nothing much happens in the piece action wise (the most important events transpire in the following act's conclusion) but several psychological portraits are painted by Mercadante with breathtaking vivacity, including the conflict between Foscari and Carlo, the forced slave of the former, though the latter seems to be finally breaking from his servitude; Violetta's innocence (presented in an unusually long arioso, breaking the piece's natural flow but phrased lovingly by the composer); and, most importantly, the people's hate towards the character of Il .... + Informações
