It was in 1976 that Showaddywaddy from the UK, and Flash Cadillac & The Continental Kids US blared through the sound barrier in Europe. Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids, an American retro rock 'n' roll band from the beginning of 70s. And still going on. In the movie American Graffiti they played under the name Herbie and the Heartbeats. This nice song is from their first album. And pictures are, of course, beautiful Caddys. Sorry 'bout the missing letter in the beginning, don't know where it went, in my original video it is there...:)! Ihope owners of the rights want to see this as an honor to these great talented artists, which it really is! And same goes to these random photos, which I have found from net. In the late '60s, Flash Cadillac & the Continental Kids hit the club scene and shook up the psychedelic status quo with a dose of old-style rock & roll. Clad in black leather jackets with their hair greased back in ducktails, they performed punchy '50s rock classics at a time when ten-minute guitar solos were de rigueur. Flash Cadillac (which dropped the "Continental Kids" addendum in 1980) was formed at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1968. After honing their chops on the fraternity party circuit, the group left Boulder and relocated to Los Angeles in 1971. Two years later, they got their big break when they were cast as the prom band in American Graffiti, a gig that also entailed their inclusion in the movie's hit soundtrack. A major-label record contract followed, and the band issued a series of pleasant '50s and '60s revival music albums that encompassed both cover versions and original compositions. The best of these is the surf-themed Sons of the Beach, issued in 1976. The band toured extensively as an opening act for many of the top bands of the '70s, including Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath. They also appeared on the TV show Happy Days (in an episode written especially for them, no less) and were featured in the film Apocalypse Now. After their career cooled, Flash Cadillac continued to appear on the summer fair circuit and managed to secure gigs doing classic rock songs with symphony pops orchestras. "Did You Boogie ( With Your Baby) was the only top 40 single for Flash Cadillac & The Continental Kids in 1976 & is from their album, "Sons of The Beaches " on Private Stock Records & features "Wolfman Jack". There's also a rare version of..."Did You Boogie" without Wolfman Jack but lacks the punch that Wolfman Jack brings to the song.... The "Sons of The Beaches" album holds up real well on its own & could give Brian Wilson or any Beach Boys album a run for its money...... + Informações

A one hit wonder of the most glorious kind! Another 70's trip down 50's nostalgia lane, thanks to American Graffiti(from where Flash Cadillac and the band were sourced) and Happy Days. I have fond memories of this song blasting out of radios in 1976, and although i had no appreciation of the era that this song and band were evoking, "Did you Boogie" was catchy, fun and had great harmonies. Although formed years before, and releasing earlier singles, it was "Did you Boogie" which provided them with their only chart success in America, and the song climbed even higher in Australia, and spent several months ambling around the Top 40. Britain had Showaddywaddy, we had Silver Studs and OL'55, and America had Sha Na Na and Flash Cadillac who dropped the Continental Kids from their name, once they reached their 30's - considering themselves too old to be 'kids'. I hope this brings back good memories for all who see it. Enjoy!. + Informações

For two summers of my teen-aged life, this band was my collective first love. With three of the original members gone now (including my main man, Flash), I wanted to make this tribute to sweet memories and nice young men.
