Mike Judge, Warren '85, started his working career designing electronic test systems for the F18 multi-role fighter jet. It did not last long. "Finally I just realized I shouldn't be wasting these people's time or mine and I quit," he told @UCSD magazine in September 2009. Judge moved to Dallas, joined the band Anson Funderburgh and The Rockets as bass guitarist and ended up spending two years touring. Then one day he had one of those life-changing moments. He had always dabbled in drawing and cartoons and when he saw that the Animation Celebration festival was playing at the Inwood Theater in Dallas, he decided to go. They were showing a film created by a local animator. When Judge saw the filmmaker's drawings on display in the lobby, he was inspired. "There was something about seeing an actual drawing sitting there, and going wow, this guy lives in my city," Judge said. "Suddenly it started seeming like a possibility. I went to the library, got a couple books on animation and bought a Bolex camera." The first home-made cartoon he produced was Office Space, which later was developed into the movie. The ever-growing population of ex-convicts continues to be an onerous burden on the state's sagging financial condition. My grandest achievement in Minecraft was building a huge sailing ship called the SV Anne. It's a huge ocean going vessel, capable of carrying up to 45 people, and her own weight in cargo. She has six decks, three masts, and five sails. She has rooms for First and Second class passengers, as well as Third Class rooms. She comes equipped with all the modern luxuries of the day, including a fully stocked kitchen, a dining room, a lounge, a doctor's office, a Promenade Deck, a pub, and even a Public Bath. In some lights, it is almost like it's own small town at sea. This was originally a project I did in Art class in High School. In my 2008-2009 school year, there was a poster contest for our school mascot (the Buccaneers). Since I couldn't draw humans very well, I decided to draw a ship instead. Later, after failing to complete the poster in time, I decided to drop that project, and draw a full set of blueprints for the ship instead, just to cure my boredom. Now that I have Minecraft, I now have something to build all of those buildings and vehicles that I drew, that doesn't give me a headache! *glares at Google Sketch-up* She wasn't always a passenger vessel though. In my version of the blueprints, she was originally a Naval Destroyer for the British.
