"Prattsville Devastated" Part II - Lance Wheeler Video 5.87 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 7358 exibições Our cameras take just a telescoped look at flood ravaged Prattsville, NY Three days after Hurricane Irene devastated numerous towns across Greene County, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo arrived in the heaviest hit area in Prattsville to view the devastation first hand. "These are not communities of deep pockets," the governor said during a press conference, promising to provide as much aide as possible. "These are communities that will need help." He estimated damage from Irene experienced by upstate communities to approach the billion dollar mark. Meanwhile, the town remained a flurry of activity as the cleanup efforts continued. Dried mud everywhere kicked up a consistent cloud of red dust as trucks, heavy equipment and ATVs pounded back and forth, dodging the sightseers and expansive press corp that accompanied he governor's visit. Joanna Newsom - Emily [pt 1] (11.16.06) 6.75 min. | 4.9302325 avaliação | 29918 exibições (5a of 10) Live @ the First Unitarian Church Sanctuary - Philadelphia, PA November 16th, 2006 eattapes.com The meadowlark and the chim-choo-ree and the sparrow Set to the sky in a flying spree, for the sport over the pharaoh A little while later the Pharisees dragged comb through the meadow Do you remember what they called up to you and me, in our window? There is a rusty light on the pines tonight Sun pouring wine, lord, or marrow Down into the bones of the birches And the spires of the churches Jutting out from the shadows The yoke, and the axe, and the old smokestacks and the bale and the barrow And everything sloped like it was dragged from a rope In the mouth of the south below We've seen those mountains kneeling, felten and grey We thought our very hearts would up and melt away From that snow in the nighttime Just going And going And the stirring of wind chimes In the morning In the morning Helps me find my way back in From the place where I have been And, Emily - I saw you last night by the river I dreamed you were skipping little stones across the surface of the water Frowning at the angle where they were lost, and slipped under forever In a mud-cloud, mica-spangled, like the sky'd been breathing on a mirror Anyhow - I sat by your side, by the water You taught me the names of the stars overhead that I wrote down in my ledger Thoough all I knew of the rote universe were those Pleiades loosed in December I promised you I'd set them to verse so I'd always remember .... + Informações |

Emmylou Harris Ballad Of a Runaway Horse (Leonard Cohen) and Charlotte Church Dream a Dream 14.93 min. | 4.84 avaliação | 4261 exibições "Ballard Of A Runaway Horse" (Leonard Cohen) Say a prayer for the cowgirl her horse ran away She'll walk 'til she finds him her darlin' her stray But the river's in flood and the roads are awash And the bridges break up in the panic of loss And there's nothin' to follow nowhere to go He's gone like the summer gone like the snow And the crickets are breaking her heart with their song As the day caves in and the night is all wrong Did she dream it was he who went galloping past And bent down the fern broke open the grass And printed the mud with the well-hammered shoe That she nailed to his speed in the dreams of her youth And although he goes grazin' a minute away She tracks him all night she tracks him all day And she's blind to his presence except to compare Her injury here with his punishment there Then at home on a branch on a high stream A songbird sings out so suddenly And the sun is warm and the soft winds ride On a willow tree by the riverside An the world is sweet and world is wide And he's there where the light and the darkness divide And the steam's comin' off him he's huge and he's shy And he steps on the moon when he paws at the sky And he comes to her hand but he's nor really tame He longs to be lost she longs for the same And he'll bolt and he'll plunge thru the first open pass To roll and to feed in the sweet mountain grass Or he'll make a break for the high plateau Where there's nothing above and noting below It's time for their burden the whip and the .... + Informações |

||| Emotional Music God's Touch - An Atheist's View of Religion ||| 3.80 min. | 0 avaliação | 12735 exibições ~~~~~~ Why do I not believe in God ? ~~~~~~~ Why should there be a God? What makes us so special that we should have our own big God, who will look out for us and help us in time of need? What have we done to deserve it? I certainly don't see much to be proud of in the human race. The only reason we all still exist is because of the MAD pact. Mutually Assured Destruction, the total annihilation of life as we know it, is all that keeps us from killing ourselves. I truly can not comprehend that, if there is a God, who is omniscient and omnipotent, there should be such great suffering on this Earth. If there is such a God why has it done nothing to help the poor, the innocent, the starving or the suffering? Why has it done nothing to alleviate the hurts of this Earth? As nothing has been done, I ask of the believers, "Who is this great being, in whom you hold such faith?" For, if exist it does, I can not believe that any being could be so cruel nor so hard hearted. IFurthermore, I can not conceive of a being who has such power. (This may be purely a limitation of my mind.)How can anything be so great that it knows all, and sees all, and hears all? And then, on top of that, has the power to create, and bend all to its will. Such a thing is inconceivable to me. ~~~~~~ Why do I think other people believe in a God ? ~~~~~~ In the beginnings of belief... Humans saw that they were mortal and they were afraid. They feared to die. And, in the deaths of others they saw that yet those .... + Informações |

Greatest Snow On Earth - Cyclocross Utah 10.00 min. | 4.0 avaliação | 2122 exibições A soft flaky snow greeted the series finale and championship between the King of Utah Cyclocross / Working Man Bart Gillespie & Ali Goulet 2009 USGP National Champion 35 +. It made for plenty of slipping, sliding, crashes, and fun for the final battle of the year for the series championship. The Utah cyclocross series is one of the greatest shows/cycling events around ( I know cos I'm from Cali & been all over the world), family fun events, and the perfect snow just make it more beautiful, fun and interesting. IE The Greatest Snow/Show on Earth. It was also very nice that despite my screen going out half the time, the shots where I pointed the camera and hoped are mostly there. IE why there are some too distant or too close-up shots. I didn't even know if I was recording most of the time ; ( Of course there was some skipping here and there but it was nice that my digits and camera in the 15-20 degrees didn't suffer for nothing. Apologies to Alex for not really giving him much chance to say much. I was in a panic with my screen going in and out dead for the first time just before the elite race was going to start and the guys were gracious enough to let me interview on the start line. Hopefully they will let me try that again at the last call race and they can reflect on the season, which is what I should have asked... Utah's claim to "the greatest snow on earth" comes from the light flaky powder warmed by the Great Salt Lake that drops so beautifully in steady consistent .... + Informações |

Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon . Spain - World Heritage Site by UNESCO 1.87 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 842 exibições Ferries to Spain: ferriesspain.net Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon is an aesthetic trend in the Mudéjar style, which is centered in Aragon (Spain) and has been recognized in some representative buildings as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Source : Wikipedia The chronology of the Aragonese Mudejar occupies 12th to the 17th century and includes more than a hundred architectural monuments located predominantly in the valleys of the Ebro, Jalón and Jiloca, where there was a large population of Mudejar and Muslim descent, although many of them were nominally Christian. They kept their workshops and craft traditions, and rarely used stone as building material. The first manifestations of Aragonese Mudejar have two origins: a palatial architecture linked to the monarchy, which amends and extends the Aljafería Palace maintaining ornamental Islamic tradition and Muslim builders and traditional architecture that links to the Romanesque building left in gear of chairs and began to elaborate their meaning brick buildings often in Hispanic-rooted ornamental tracery, which can be seen in churches in Daroca, being initiated in stone, were finished off in the 13th century with Mudejar brick panels. From the construction point of view, the Mudejar architecture in Aragon preferably adopts functional schemes of Cistercian Gothic, but with some differences. Buttresses are often absent, especially in the apses which characteristically have an octagonal plan with thick walls that can hold the .... + Informações |

Michael Peace All Silent Night PEACE OF CHRISTMAS 3.83 min. | 4.6666665 avaliação | 7104 exibições A Silent Night © Mike Peace 1997 The split second white hot flash from the all too close mortar rounds burned a kind of mental photographic image of the young soldiers as they crouched in their foxholes. And in these flashing images you couldnt see the pain or the cold or the blood and sweat. What you saw was the wide eyed innocence and fear and even a glisten of a tear when a good friend lay dyeing or dead in the mud. The older men, weary to exhaustion found sleep easily under the steady drone of machine gun fire, bazooka, and grenade blasts. The constant noise was numbing to the senses, even fear and adrenaline became old friends. Then suddenly, more jarring than a mortar in a neighboring foxhole was an amazing, almost deafening silence. Mouths dropped wide open, sleeping soldiers sprang up from their sleep, and eyes strained into the smoky darkness. Above was the only visible light. Was it a enemy bomber? A flare? It was not moving, it was just a star. As each soldiers gaze became riveted upon this heavenly light, a faint sound was growing in the distance. The soldiers now strained to hear above the ringing in their ears to determine what this faint sound might be. It was midnight on Christmas Eve and the sound they heard was what could only be described as a kind of melodic whisper. The sound was rapidly growing louder. Soon it had reached the bunkers. At first it sounded like a Latin prayer that was vaguely familiar and not unlike something I might have heard in .... + Informações |

So when in Dublin I arrived to try for a situation I always heard them say it was the pride of all the Nations. Cho: I'm a roving jack of all trades Of every trade of all trades And if you wish to know my name They call me Jack of all trades. On George's Quay I first began and there became a porter Me and my master soon fell out which cut my acquaintance shorter In Sackville Street, a pastry cook; In James' Street, a baker In Cook Street I did coffins make; In Eustace Street, a preacher. In Baggot street I drove a cab and there was well requited In Francis Street had lodging beds, to entertain all strangers For Dublin is of high reknown, or I am much mistaken In Kevin Street, I do declare, sold butter, eggs and bacon. In Golden Lane I sold old shoes: In Meath Street was a grinder In Barrack Street I lost my wife. I'm glad I ne'er could find her. In Mary's Lane, I've dyed old clothes, of which I've often boasted In that noted place Exchequer Street, sold mutton ready roasted. In Temple Bar, I dressed old hats; In Thomas Street, a sawyer In Pill Lane, I sold the plate, in Green Street, an honest lawyer In Plunkett Street I sold cast clothes; in Bride's Alley, a broker In Charles Street I had a shop, sold shovel, tongs and poker. On today's program we'll explore the Ethiopian injera and coffee culture, and discover the birthplace of coffee or "bunna," as it is called in Amharic. The beautiful country of Ethiopia, located in northeast Africa, has many wonderful customs associated with delectable food and beverages. Inspired by the Orthodox Church tradition, Ethiopian cuisine is famous for its delicious vegan dishes. While diverse cultures exist in the nation, typical Ethiopian meals feature a sourdough flatbread or injera, various spicy vegetable dishes called "wats," as well as an after-meal espresso-style coffee. Let's first take a look at how injera is prepared. Now I am going to show how to make teff injera. Teff is native to Ethiopia. Teff has three varieties; we call them white, mixed, and red teff. Teff contains iron and also other nutrients. The most widely used food in Ethiopia is teff. Teff can be eaten with anything. Teff's straw is called "chid." And the straw is .... + Informações |

gods of egypt p#2 10.00 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 1643 exibições This sounds more like how it happened..."Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of 10 things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these 10 things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send *you* to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever til the end of time...but he loves you." -- George Carlin Ancient Egyptian legends tell of Tep Zepi, or the First Time. This is described as an age when "sky gods" came down to Earth and raised the land from mud and water. They supposedly flew through the air in flying "boats" and brought laws and wisdom to man through a royal line of pharaohs. Of course, this was all thrown out the window when christianity came along. Keep in mind that the Gods were the one and only 'religion' that there was. No other conflicting beliefs? Why? Well, because it was fact, not faith. The modern church would have you believe that's it's just a myth. But you have to ask yourself on the edge of occams razor, what truly indeed is more likely? That a very advanced alien race came down and altered our gen pool, like ALL other anceint cultures concur with OR, that a bearded spirit in the sky basically went ZAP, and created us in six days.
