The Fairfield Parlour From Home to Home album is a continuation of the Kaleidoscope career, with the same lineup. The major difference is that the sound is less psychedelic and more folk-progressive oriented, with great use of acoustic guitar, flute and keyboards (especially the mellotron strings). There are some mellancholic songs and some more upbeat, but the overall song is lightweight Aries, By Your Bedside, Soldier of The Flesh, I Will Always Feel The Same, Chalk on the Wall and Monkey are mellancholic songs, all of them are beautiful and Daltrey's voice fits perfectly the mellancholic songs, being one of the best voices of the progressive rock for mellow songs. The keyboards and occasional flutes are superb, mainly the mellotron strings.In My Box, Free, Glorious House of Arthur are more upbeat and rock, with good guitar work. Kaleidoscope - White Faced Lady 1971 UK This album was in fact made by the progressive encarnation of "Kaleidoscope", whose name was "Fairfield Parlour", recorded in 1971. At the early stages, the band had the help of Moody Blues' Mike Pinder, who was setting a studio at his home. Unfortunately, at that time, the band was not so popular and lost their deal at Vertigo shortly after the completion of the album. They tried to move to RCA, but the company didn't want to risk the release of a double album by a relatively unknown band. The band completed the album, but couldn't get another deal and the album was shelved till the 90s, when the interest in old psychedelic and progressive rock resurfaced. The sound is different from psychedelic beginning, more folk and symphonic, though with some psychedelic influences still evident. I felt honored and blessed to witness this amazing event. Peter Daltrey, the lead singer and songwriter of Kaleidoscope and The Fairfield Parlour, performing live in the US at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. It was a beautiful show and he had a great backing band made up of some of my good friends. Unfortunately, the lighting was very low and I filmed this with my iPhone so the image is quite dark.
