Soft Pink Truth - Party Pills 5.80 min. | 4.5555553 avaliação | 2179 exibições Soft Pink Truth - Party Pills The Soft Pink Tube, an evil alter-ego whose source material is gathered entirely from web audio. Think crappy three second You Tube clips that no one watches or comments upon, uploaded demos and audio shareware ephemera, General MIDI instruments no one should use, ancient homepage anthems: every sample in the new Soft Pink Tube material is generated by the faceless huddled masses "swinging in the hammock of the Internet", to quote the poet Fred Seidel. And it's all going to be disseminated for free and uploaded back into the same great sea of trivial garbage from which its constituent elements crawled. Need a penny? Take a penny. Have a penny? Leave a penny. In the manic and overstimulated spirit of the new post-capitalist endtimes, here's a Soft Pink Tube track entitled "Party Pills"; every sound was gathered by typing the word "Party" in as a search term on You Tube and sampling and sequencing and manipulating the results.. + Informações |

"A House Haunted by New Year's Past" 9.98 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 456 exibições That New Year's Eve party from 1959 - it never really ended - Did it? The guests seemed to have left - didn't they? Maybe not. An homage to The Party that Won't Die, which resides in my home 24/7. A bit lengthy, but for fans of vintage party ephemera, perhaps a visual feast.. + Informações |

Australian Federal Election 1990 Campaign Ad Megamix 5.52 min. | 4.9545455 avaliação | 11066 exibições An assortment of election ephemera from the Australian federal election that took place on the 24th of March, 1990, featuring campaign advertisements from both the incumbent Labor Party (fronted by prime minister Bob Hawke) and the Liberal/National Party coalition (with Andrew Peacock as opposition leader) as well as 'how-to-vote' spots from the Australian Electoral Commission. Synopsis: 1. AEC - Informal voting, that wonderful, democratic right that allows us to write whatever the bleeding heck we want on our ballot papers, even if we are required, by law, to participate in the electoral process. Of course, if you actually want to vote correctly, stay tuned for segments #5 and #9! 2. Labor - "Children are our future" (feeling sick already? And yes, I'm sure I was on Bob Hawke's mind when he released that campaign...) 3. Liberal - "There are que-e-estions, that just have to be aa-answered..." (even worse than Labor's song!). Andrew Peacock unleashing his tough love on "dole bludgers". 4. Labor - "Australia's Future" - Bob Hawke investing in Australia's technology and research sectors. 5. AEC - How to vote for the House of Representatives. 6. Liberal - Shadow Treasurer Dr. John Hewson says "No special deals on handouts". 7. Labor - Well, it was a given that the Democrats and Greens would hold the balance of power in the upper house. But what about the lower house? Which party should Democrat/Green/etc. supporters have voted for there? 8. Liberal - John Howard, with his .... + Informações |

Tehching Hsieh - One Year Performance 1980 -- 1981 (Time Clock Piece) 1.48 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 6498 exibições Tehching Hsieh is an artist who has been mythologized since retiring from making art in 2000. In 1970s and 1980s New York, he made an exceptional series of artworks: five separate one-year-long performances. The exhibition will focus on documentation of his performance 'life work', One Year Performance 1980-1981 (Time Clock Piece). For one year, the artist punched a worker's time clock located in his studio, on the hour, every hour. Marking the occasion by taking a self-portrait on a single frame of 16mm film, the resulting reel documents a year in his life at approximately one second per day -- a pace that is polar opposite of the enduring length of the original performance. The punch cards, witnessed by a third party for authenticity, and other ephemera, document Hsieh's life restructured around this highly repetitive task. This will be the first exhibition of the Taiwanese-born, New York-city based artist's work in Europe.. + Informações |

Itchy-O at La Cita, Downtown Los Angeles, June 4th 2011 8.42 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 791 exibições Inside the Mothership with the Itchy-O Marching Band at La Cita, (a historic mexican cowboy bar in downtown Los Angeles), June 4th, 2011. The Itchy-O Marching Band- A throbbing 25-piece band of masked mahem-makers invites you to dissolve the performer/audience divide and melt into the chaos, that is the disorienting power of itchy-O. The itchy-O Marching Band (IOMB) is a Denver-based percussion-centered electronic marching band and the mobile arm of the experimental film/music troupe itchy-O. itchy-O brings a sophisticatedly savage sound and the sheer joy of electronic instruments un-tethered and running free. With a driving drum corp complemented by an arsenal of special surround sound effects units including synthesizers, theremin, vocoders, and several other hand held electronic devices, the IOMB completely engulfs and immerses an audience from every angle in an electric bog of music, ephemera and spectacle. Their identities obscured to protect the never-was innocent, IOMB is waging a 'little war' on predictable mediocrity with their guerilla-style performances which feature an ornery dancing Chinese lion, fog, strobes, sequins, sweat and a lot of love. itchy-O has played events such as the Biennial of the Americas Kick-off Party, Denver's Underground Music Showcase, Westword's Artopia as well as conferences, festivals and launch parties. They've shared bills with the Warlock Pinchers, The Melvins (lite), March Fourth and many others.. + Informações |
