Daniel Boone is talking about ?MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW" "Man of Constant Sorrow" is a traditional American folk song first recorded by Dick Burnett, a partially blind fiddler from Kentucky. The song was originally recorded by Burnett as "Farewell Song" printed in a Richard Burnett songbook, c. 1913. An early version was recorded by Emry Arthur in 1928. There is some uncertainty whether Dick Burnett himself wrote the song. One claim is that it was sung by the Mackin clan in 1888 in Ireland. And that Cameron O'Mackin moved to Tenessee, brought the song with him, and performed the song. In an interview he gave toward the end of his life, Burnett himself indicated that he could not remember: Charles Wolfe: "What about this "Farewell Song" ? 'I am a man of constant sorrow' ? did you write it?" Richard Burnett: "No, I think I got the ballad from somebody ? I dunno. It may be my song..." If Burnett wrote the song, the dating of the writing of the song, or perhaps the editing of certain lyrics by Burnett, can be made to about 1913. Since it is known that Burnett was born in 1883, married in 1905, and blinded in 1907, the dating of two of these texts can be made on the basis of internal evidence. The second stanza of "Farewell Song" mentions the singer has been blind six years, which would date it at 1913. According to the Country Music Annual, Burnett "probably tailored a pre-existing song to fit his blindness" and may have adapted a hymn. Charles Wolfe argues that "Burnett .... + Informações

This song is generally attributed to Dick Burnett, a blind fiddler from Kentucky, who was the first to record it in about 1913, using the name "Farewell Song." However even he was not sure whether he actually wrote the song, saying in an interview many years later, "I think I got the ballad from somebody - I dunno. It may be my song ...". It has been suggested that he adapted it from a Baptist hymn called "Wandering Boy." Cecil Sharp collected the song in 1918 and published it as "In Old Virginny." Emry Arthur recorded it in 1928 and Sarah Ogan Gunning rewrote this version as "Girl of Constant Sorrow" in 1936. The song was popularised by the Stanley Brothers, who recorded it in 1951. Ralph Stanley said in an interview in 2009: "Man of Constant Sorrow" is probably two or three hundred years old. But the first time I heard it when I was y'know, like a small boy, my daddy - my father - he had some of the words to it, and I heard him sing it, and we - my brother and me - we put a few more words to it, and brought it back in existence. I guess if it hadn't been for that it'd have been gone forever. I'm proud to be the one that brought that song back, because I think it's wonderful." Other notable recordings are by Joan Baez (1960), Judy Collins (1961), Roscoe Holcomb (1961 -- 62), Peter, Paul and Mary (1962), Bob Dylan (1963), Rod Stewart (1969), The Dillards (1972) and Jackson Browne (2000). A slide show of commercial real estate for sale or lease. "The commercial real estate bubble, which peaked in late 2007 at over 6 trillion dollars in value, is now worth half of that three years later. One-half of the remaining 3 to 3.5 trillion dollars of debt is located at community and mid-sized banks. The short term commercial real estate debt coming due peaks in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Approximately $1.4 trillion in commercial real estate loans are set to mature between 2010 and 2014. Non-performing CRE loans on bank books had reached a level of 10% at the end of the first quarter this year according to the NYFed. This problem has yet to bail play out. The excess supply at underwater prices of the commercial real estate now in existence was encouraged by relaxed CRE lending standards earlier this decade. Underwater CRE loans are threatening the survival of many smaller banks. So far this year 90 banks have failed on top of the 140 that failed in 2009 and 25 in 2008."(Seeking Alpha July 2010 also ... "Housing is locked into a long-term depression. Can you imagine building 549000 new homes with a 3-year overhang, when four months is normal? Eighty percent of the building industry is dead in spite of $8000 credits and $1.25 trillion or $1.8 trillion in purchases of MBS and CDO bonds. Foreclosures hitting the market are endless with no relief in sight. Millions of homes are underwater and will probably stay that way for years to come." I first heard this when i watched that Oh Brother movie but this has been recorded by hundreds of artists, the first being Emry Arthur in 1928. Richard "Dick" Burnett is credited with writing at least some of the words since he was blinded in 1907 and likely wrote the line "six long years in trouble" in 1913. When interviewed before his death he recalled possibly adapting a Baptist hymn called "wandering boy". Some believe the original song may be over 300 years old. The Stanley Brothers (1952), Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and The Grateful Dead are among the many artists who have recorded this Ballad. Even a few hip hop artists have tried in vain to ruin this classic.. + Informações
