Two of my favourite Bluesmen, Elmore James and Eric Clapton did iconic versions of Elmore's song, It Hurts Me Too. I first heard Eric playing it with the Bluesbreakers, the of course he recorded it again and released it on the 'Cradle to the Grave' CD. It's true, my buddy the bass player Mick cut the seat belt and pulled a guy to safety from a burning (nearly enveloped with fire) car. The door was jammed so he had to break the window with his cane. Mick said the guy was literally screaming and begging him not to let him die "like this". It just so happened that Mick had recently ordered a jack knife from ebay and it arrived that week so he got to use it for the first time! Good thing it worked. The whole thing was pretty intense and happened on I-5 in Everett, Washington. Mick is hailed as a hero but insists he did what anyone would have done. The thing is that Mick is physically challenged by many back and neck injuries and surgery, so he risked much more than a normal person would have. So we see him as a real stand-up guy! Also, he (Mick) had no health insurance but only got a slight burn on his nose. Turns out the guy he saved was a young guy who was soon to be married....thanks to Mick, he made it to his wedding.
