Students, faculty and community members gathered in the Barrus Concert Hall Saturday evening for a free Inaugural Performance of the new Steinway grand piano. It took the Eliza R. Snow Society only two years to raise the funds to purchase this Steinway from Hamburg Germany.University President, Kim Clark, attended the concert to receive the gift on behalf of Brigham Young University-Idaho. The Steinway grand is an instrument that allows the complete full expression of the artists intent, so whatever the artist wants to do this instrument can do. Said Kim Clark. Its a beautiful instrument, it has a wide range of color, and its like driving a Cadillac. It has everything. Said Stephen Allen Director of Piano Studies.This piano takes its place on stage in addition to two other Steinway pianos that the University has, each more than 25 years old. The other Steinways we have here are good. I mean they are really good pianos but there is a total difference. You sit down and it kind of inspires you because you know that you can play whatever you want to play to the best of your ability on that piano. Said Jordan Roper a Sophomore from Albuquerque New Mexico.The piano does come with hefty price tag of $150000 all of which was given by 1300 generous donors and students are saying that it was worth the money.
