Echomen - Perpetual (Retrofuturevocal) Track released in 2003 Echomen is an electronic music production trio, which specialises in progressive house, consisting of Chris Scott, Anton Fielding, and Graeme Cheb Stewart (who joined later). They are also known as Mooncat and Time Design. They have released singles on labels such as Hooj Choons, Forensic Records and Saw Recordings. These singles have received much play from DJs and have been featured on compilations from Global Underground's Nubreed series as well James Zabiela's Sound in Motion. They have also made several guest mix appearances, both together and some individually, on John Digweed's flagship progressive house radio show (today called Transitions) on Kiss FM. Chris has recorded classic deep house as New Phunk Theory and Lexicon Avenue for labels such as Paper, Forensic, Airtight and Guidance. Anton is one half of Solaris Heights who have recorded for Paper and Guidance and been responsible for some of the UK's finest House, which is always deep, musical and brimming with funk, as well as DJing at the infamous Shindig and guest spots around the country. "Perpetual" single has maintained top spots on charts around the world and has even hot the hot number one spot on some including Hernan Cattaneo´s December chart on Resident Advisor. The last two years have been quiet on the production front with hectic DJ schedules and various other commitments but December of 2011 saw the return of Echomen with their remix of Lank & Zajac's 'Juice Box' on Mesmeric Records. It was a great return for Chris and Anton as the track was selected as one of Beatport's 10 Must Hear Progressive House tracks for that week. For Mesmeric's third release of 2012 and 13th overall we find the Echomen returning to the label for their first original productions in two years. Their 'Satellites' single features remixes from Vincenzo and Unarmed Forces. The 'Satallites' original leads the release off and it brings the classic Echomen sound with a new modern twist. The nineties drew to a close when Psychedelic Trance underwent an interesting development: Track arrangements were thinning out more and more, instead of being overloaded quite some productions now focussed on single sound effects, subtle placed melodies and extensive percussive compositions. According to its breaking-new-grounds style this popular subgenre soon had an own name: Progressive Trance. Brothers Stephan and Sirko Wötanowski were enthusiastic about this sound from its very first days and this early passion should be the beginning of a very extensive musical engagement which is without equal. .. .. It was around 2003 when the two of them already had loads of party experience both in the middle of blasting dance floors as well as behind the DJ decks and they felt the urge to transform all this energy they had collected into their own music. As a consequence they found themselves spending quite some sleepless nights with twiddling knobs and working the keyboards in their studio from now on. And soon some proper results piled up on the hard discs: Dreamy melodies and spaced-out sound effects bedded on bouncing bass lines, everything kind of tidied-up and very up-to-date. Lank & Zajac's 'Juice Box' was originally released in October of 2011 and it proved to be one of Lank's strongest productions this year with support coming in from both Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. www.beatport.com The ninth overall release on Mesmeric sees two new remixes of 'Juice Box' from Echomen and Rodskeez. The first here represents a return for Chris Scott and Anton Fielding aka Echomen who were responsible for some great records back in the day, 'The Truth' on Hooj and 'Perpetual' on Saw both come to mind. The Echomen sound is as fresh as ever on their 'Juice Box' remix, with a punchy, energetic drive and cool hypnotic vibe that is both modern and great for the dance floor this remix really hits the spot. The sound design is super fresh as well with a smattering of wickedness happening during the main drop which builds the tension in quite a unique way for a great dance floor moment. Top stuff from Echomen and great to see them back, hopefully we see more soon! The second remix comes from (in our opinion) one of the industry's best kept secrets, Aussie producer Rodskeez is loaded with talent and has a unique, modern sound all his own. With several superb releases on Sudbeat, Replug and Vapour Rodskeez's debut on Mesmeric is nothing short of brilliant. With a rolling techy groove that's accented by some wonderfully futuristic bells and a wicked back room type vibe this comes in as one of Rodskeez most contemporary productions to date.
