I received the awesome chance to travel to Arctic Bay, Nunavut last week. It's a small town of around 600 and it's in a very isolated but beautiful location. Arctic Bay is the northern-most community on Baffin Island and it is also the only community in Nunavut that is connected to another community by a road. To reach Arctic Bay we had to fly from Iqaluit to Nanisivik, and from there we drove about 30 minutes in a snow storm to Arctic Bay. Homeland Security head Janet Napolitano, now forever known as Big Sis -- a reference to George Orwell's 1984 -- has been caught telling some big lies in an attempt to quell an enormous public backlash against the full body scanning technology and invasive pat-down procedures that have been implemented by the TSA in airports nationwide. In a blatant propaganda piece published by USA Today, Napolitano describes the scanning machines as safe and the pat-downs as "discreet", in the face of a flood of complaints from scientists, pilots, flight attendants, privacy groups, parents, Muslim groups and everyday passengers, all rebelling against over the top security. "AIT machines are safe, efficient, and protect passenger privacy." Napolitano writes in an article in which every single claim she makes can be easily disproved and revealed to be outright lies. Lie: The scanners are safe "They have been independently evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, who have all affirmed their safety." Napolitano claims, expecting the public to simply swallow the claim that NIST and the FDA are somehow "independent" of the federal government. The flight from Heathrow to Delhi was part of a one stop flight to Bangkok Thailand. I was quite happy with the quality of service provided. Cabin staff were helpful and professional, The food was satisfactory, sufficient entertainment was available from the screens located behind every seat. Also of mention was the minimal waiting time at Delhi airport, an important factor to consider when booking 1 or 2 stop flights. An important mention must be made to the commitment of the airport ground staff at Delhi airport, who were eager to guide people on connecting flights, to the correct location in the airport complex. This was my first flight with one of SV's new A320's. I was eager to see if there has been any real changes in their services and to check this narrow bodied jet configuration. At the end of the flight I had mixed emotions but leaning towards disappointment. I will leave it for you to decide! SV 187 leaves terminal 2 on-time at 0745 taking off from runway 33R and leaving an otherwise quite RUH. Fly fishing the mouth of Deschutes River in late October proved to hold fresh fish eager to commit to a swung fly. The jet boat ride was as memorable of an experience as the steelhead themselves. Just a little video of our caiques. They are just about 2 years old now and they have pretty much molted into their adult feathers. We think they are beautiful!! They are both big caiques weighing 165 for Skipper and 157 for Ginger. Which I find quite amazing as Ginger was just barely 110 grams when she was fully weaned. They are not fat...they just matured into nice sized birds. They are both fully flighted, although they don't really like to fly much. I try to "force" them to fly each day for exercise. But....it is rather difficult to force a caique to do anything!! LOL I have read that wild caiques don't fly that often during their days in the forrest. They will usually spend their entire day in one tree foraging and playing with their flock members. Wouldn't that be the coolest thing to watch? I would love to sit under a tree full of wild caiques and watch their silly antics for an entire day!! I can bet I would spend alot of time giggling at their silly behaviors!! I hand raised Ginger and Skipper and kept them for future breeding. I have prepared a large cage for them in my breeding bird room. Although they are still too young to breed, I am preparing myself to let them be a "married couple". I know they will love their new big cage which I have set up with lots of foraging opportunities and plenty of room to hop and skip and summersault around in. My goal is to have them in the bird room by July. But.....today, I am not sure I can see myself setting them "free" to .... + Informações

I added some explanations for non-flyers. A huge cloud was hooked over the soboba mountain ridge (hemet, california). However, many pilots eager to fly, and we all launched. Lots of shaking knees later that day, as there was WAY to much lift everywhere, one guy was blown over the mountain and got stuck in heavy rotor, but nothing really bad happened that day. I myself was particularly screwed as I was light on my wing (=less sink) and made the mistake of flying more southward than the others, closer to the cloud core. What you can't see is that I was on big ears most of the time. Surprisingly, the air was rather smooth that day, there was just way too much lift.. + Informações

The Breitling Jet Team have arrived safely back to Dijon, France after a tour of 5 new countries, which involved 7 aircraft flying more than 225 sorties in 18 days with all flights on schedule. This unique tour allowed the largest professional civilian aerobatics team performing on jets to display to new audiences in the East Mediterranean and the Middle East demonstrating, through their impressive and emotive performance, Breitling's passion for aviation. Whether displaying over the coastline or, as in the case of Beirut and Amman, closing the main airport for the display, the surrounding areas, rooftops and balconies were always crowded with people eager to see the show. The team felt honoured by the warm welcome they received at each stage and were also happy to meet some of their aviation colleagues along the way including; the Hellenic Air Force, the Turkish Stars and even sharing the skies at the final event with the Royal Jordanian Falcons. Alongside the main events, there were many highlights with first-time flights over the Acropolis in Greece, the Golden Horn in Turkey, the beautiful Cedar forests in Lebanon, Tel Aviv beach in Israel and a chance to fly more than a thousand feet below sea level over the Dead Sea in Jordan. The second of the series "Flying on the Air" where we venture off into different regions of the VATSIM world showing you, the viewers, the edge on what it's about. The highly anticipated 2011 "California Madness" event was a complete success. It consisted of professional controllers, easily flowed traffic, and lovely weather. I recently received the Saitek Yoke with Duo Throttle Quadrents, and I was eager to put it to the test in an event. Amazingly, everything worked fine except that my quadrants "idle" was 40% N1 and reverse thrust would not work. Even though my landing was a complete disaster, I felt as if I needed to upload this for the sole focus not of my flight, but how many people came together to simulate a heavy amount of air traffic. It was extraordinary and I am honored to have participated. Good work to all the controllers who pushed all that tin! I've edited this two and a half hour flight down to a whimsy 20 minutes. This mason bee (Osima rufa?) emerges to meet the paparazzi eager to see his first flight. At first he's camera shy, but he then thumbs a lift to fly off to meet the rest of the solitary bees pollinating the fruit trees in the garden... his mind may actually bee on finding a date. The drill block was on it's side as we wanted to line the tunnels with paper in order to be able to disinfect the block from parasites at the end of the season.
