The Val d'Orcia, or Valdorcia, is a region of Tuscany, central Italy, which extends from the hills south of Siena to Monte Amiata. It is characterised by gentle, carefully-cultivated hills occasionally broken by gullies and by picturesque towns and villages such as Pienza (rebuilt as an "ideal town" in the 15th century under the patronage of Pope Pius II), Radicofani (home to the notorious brigand-hero Ghino di Tacco) and Montalcino (the Brunello di Montalcino is counted among the most prestigious of Italian wines). It is a landscape which has become familiar through its depiction in works of art from the Renaissance painting to the modern photograph. Podere Cacciamici fa parte dell'Azienda Agricola San Piero in Campo ed è gestito direttamente dalla famiglia dei proprietari, i fratelli Rappuoli. Castiglione d'Orcia, provincia di Siena, Toscana, Italia. E' un comune di 2.495 abitanti situato al centro della Val d'Orcia, a poca distanza dalla via Cassia ed arroccato su una collina, propaggine della pendice settentrionale del monte Amiata; a lato della valle, comprende anche le frazioni di Rocca d'Orcia, borgo medievale situato su un colle roccioso impervio sopra il quale svetta la Rocca di Tentennano (o Tintinnano) e di Bagni San Filippo, località termale. Si hanno notizie del centro dal 714, quando era certamente possedimento degli Aldobrandeschi ed aveva il nome di Petra. Nel 1252 divenne libero Comune, ma la sua indipendenza durò al massimo un secolo; nel 1274 venne incluso nella Contea di Santa Fiora con la spartizione dei possedimenti della famiglia Aldobrandeschi. Nel Trecento si sa con certezza che era già possedimento di Siena, che successivamente la concesse a famiglie potenti in cambio di favori di natura finanziara, come i Piccolomini prima ei Salimbeni successivamente, che usarono Castiglione d'Orcia proprio come una delle basi per la loro rivolta contro i senesi. Successivamente Castiglione passò in mano ai fiorentini, che nel 1605 la affidarono ai nobili bolognesi della famiglia Riario.. + Informações

Um alle diese "Schönheiten" erleben oder fotografieren zu können, verläßt man am besten die regulären Straßen und fährt über die sogenannten "weißen Strassen", um in der Stille und Einsamkeit den Urlaub zu genießen, oder die Motive für ihre Fotos zu finden, die man von den Hauptstraßen nicht sehen kann. Sollten sie Hilfe brauchen, um an diese Stellen zu gelangen, hilft ihnen gerne Helmut der "Toscana-Foto-Scout", den sie jederzeit tageweise "mieten" können.
